Leicester City could lose one of their stars before they’ve even kicked a ball in the Championship

Leicester City are preparing for life back in the Championship once again.

Defeat against Liverpool confirmed a second relegation in three years from the Premier League for Leicester.

Foxes fans were left seething by the horrific season in the East Midlands, with neither one of Steve Cooper or Ruud van Nistelrooy able to keep them up.

Lee Carsley could replace Van Nistelrooy and is one of those admired by the Leicester hierarchy as they get set for a season of Championship football.

The Dutchman may not be the only one on his way out of the King Power Stadium.

Bilal El Khannouss’ Leicester contract contains little-known clause that could put clubs on red alert

There’s not been many shining lights in Leicester’s season, but Bilal El Khannouss has been one of them.

He’s been the standout player in his debut season in English football and has subsequently peaked the interest of a number of clubs around Europe.

El Khannouss is likely to move on in the summer due to his monetary value and according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, a release clause may allow teams to get him for a much better deal.

He said: “Leicester City’s relegation is set to change the future of Bilal El Khannouss! Having arrived this summer, the Moroccan attacking midfielder is already attracting interest and has opened the door to a potential departure during the upcoming transfer window. A reasonable release clause was negotiated in his contract to make an exit easier.”

Leicester already have a ready-made replacement for Bilal El Khannouss

Whoever replaces El Khannouss will have big shoes to fill but thankfully, the Foxes already have the man in question.

Youngster Will Alves, currently excelling on loan at Cardiff City, is one of the most exciting talents to come though the Foxes’ academy and is nailed on to have a role in the first-team next summer.

Not only will it save Leicester millions as they deal with the financial impact relegation comes with, his experience in a struggling Cardiff team will only improve his confidence and ensure he is ready to make an instant impact.
