Middlesbrough have had an excellent start to the 2025/26 Championship campaign, and are just one of two sides with a perfect record from their first three matches.
Stoke City are ahead of the Teessiders on goal difference, with the Potters’ 3-1 win over Derby County and 3-0 victory away to Sheffield Wednesday handing them a huge advantage in this department.

However, Boro have looked excellent defensively under Rob Edwards. They have conceded only once, registering two clean sheets, and they head into their next game at home to Sheffield United full of confidence.
Nevertheless, there have been reports of Middlesbrough showing an interest in Ivor Pandur from Hull City, and there is now an update on the situation.

Middlesbrough set to make bid for Hull City’s Ivor Pandur
The Tigers have had a good start to the season themselves, despite dealing with a transfer fee ban, but keeping hold of key players such as Pandur is vital to their success.

However, according to Alan Nixon, Middlesbrough are preparing a bid of up to £5m for the Croatian goalkeeper before next Monday’s transfer deadline.
He said: “Middlesbrough are ready to buy Hull City’s Croatian keeper Ivor Pandur – but face a fight. Boro are willing to pay up to £5m for the Tigers shot stopper and Hull are already checking out replacements.
“However, Pandur is settled at Hull and was hoping for a new contract. He is yet to be convinced that this is right time to move.”

Rob Edwards may not need Ivor Pandur after a strong start to 2025/26
Considering how much Middlesbrough are apparently planning to pay for the Hull goalkeeper, questions will be asked about whether he would come in as the first-choice goalkeeper.
But considering how well Sol Brynn and Tom Glover have started the campaign, Pandur may not be needed at all.

Seny Dieng is coming back to full fitness following injury, and it seems likely that he will take the gloves once he does so. However, with the back-ups already performing, Pandur is not a necessary addition for Middlesbrough.
Therefore, a move for the Hull goalkeeper seems unnecessary at this time, especially when it is considered how well liked he is by the Tigers’ head coach Sergej Jarikovic.
