Hull City held Coventry City to a 0-0 draw at the CBS Arena to start their 2025/26 Championship campaign with a bit of positivity.
This summer has been a difficult one for the Tigers, and similar to Sheffield Wednesday, they have been working under a three-window transfer fee ban.
Sergej Jakirovic’s side had just seven shots against the Sky Blues on Saturday, with three of those on target, matching the hosts’ tally despite them having 18 shots in total.
Once again, Ivor Pandur had a fantastic game for Hull and the East Yorkshire outfit were able to keep their opponents at bay in a strong defensive performance in the West Midlands. However, there are now fears that their Croatian shot-stopper could be on the move.
Middlesbrough register interest in Hull City’s Ivor Pandur
Oli McBurnie rejected offers from Sheffield United and Swansea City to join the Tigers, showing that despite their off-field issues, they do still have a pull. Yet, they will need to come to the forefront once again with Pandur.

According to Hull Live, Middlesbrough are monitoring the goalkeeper’s situation, but they are yet to send an offer to Hull, having already signed Alfie Jones from the club earlier this summer.
Jakirovic does not want to lose his first-choice ‘keeper and the club are working on improved terms as a reward for his performances since joining from Fortuna Sittard in January 2024, when he signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at the MKM Stadium.
Pandur was handed the Player of the Season award at Hull in the 2024/25 campaign, with his efforts in a 1-1 draw against Coventry in April a particular standout.

The Tigers cannot afford to lose a player of Ivor Pandur’s quality
Thankfully for the Tigers, the 25-year-old is happy in East Yorkshire and it would seemingly take a substantial offer for him to move away.
However, with Hull having problems in the transfer market, owner Acun Illicali will be keen not to lose Pandur as replacing him would be incredibly tough.

It’s going to be a difficult campaign for Jakirovic and his new team, but if they can keep hold of the Croatian, then this will only help them as they look to avoid relegation and push for a mid-table finish.
Nevertheless, with three weeks still left in the transfer window, there will be fears that there is more than enough time for his head to be turned.
