Charlton Athletic don’t look to be letting their foot off the gas when it comes to summer signings just yet, as Nathan Jones plots his next target.
Following their strong 2024/25 League One campaign under Nathan Jones, Charlton Athletic have been adding to their ranks as they prepare for life in the Championship next season.
The Addicks have already tied down Nathan Jones’ services for the future with a new contract, fending off interest from the likes of Cardiff City.
Jones has already brought in numerous players, making Charlton look somewhat like Luton 2.0 with a lot of familiar faces arriving at the Valley.
However, according to reports, a non-former Luton player is set to join Charlton very soon.

Charlton Athletic closing in on deal for Blackpool’s Rob Apter
The 22-year-old has been part of Blackpool’s senior side since 2020 but has spent the bulk of his time out on loan at the likes of Bamber Bridge, Chester, Scunthorpe United and Tranmere Rovers.
Throughout the 2024/25 campaign, he became a key man for Steve Bruce, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 43 league games. And now it appears that Charlton are acquiring his services.
South London Sport understands that the Addicks are closing in on a deal for Blackpool winger Rob Apter.
The move for the 22-year-old right winger has reportedly progressed promisingly.
In what may be a surprise to some Charlton fans, Apter isn’t another Luton player, but if he does make the Valley move, he will be reunited with former Blackpool teammate Sonny Carey.

How would Rob Apter fit into Nathan Jones’ squad?
Rob Apter’s potential arrival at Charlton would bolster Nathan Jones’ attacking options, particularly on the right side.
Jones frequently uses a 4-2-3-1 formation, which heavily relies on dynamic wide players.
Apter, a natural right midfielder/winger, had a breakthrough season for Blackpool in League One. His playing style is marked by his dribbling ability and a knack for creating opportunities, hence Steve Bruce telling London World he is a “dying breed” of player.
Apter could effectively fill the role of the recently departed Thierry Small, offering a similar threat from wide positions by cutting inside and contributing to the team’s goal tally.
While there are still aspects of his game to refine, his impressive development suggests he is prepared for the challenges of the Championship.
