Shane Duffy has not featured in a competitive match this season, with the Ireland international being an unused substitute in Norwich City’s midweek Carabao Cup victory over Watford.
Liam Manning has made it clear in the past few weeks that he is looking for Shane Duffy to leave the club, hoping the defender finds an alternative destination to Carrow Road.
A key reason behind this is the wages that the experienced defender is currently earning at the club, with Norwich keen to make a financial saving from his departure.
While Josh Sargent is being viewed as an invaluable player at Norwich as the club look to mount a challenge to return to the Premier League, after their last appearance in the top flight coming in 2022.
Now, Norwich City have a plan to move on Shane Duffy, with a move to Sheffield Wednesday being seriously considered.
Norwich City may loan Shane Duffy out
The Canaries are currently exploring ways to remove some of Shane Duffy’s wages from their financial expenditure, and one way to do this if clubs are not willing to sign him permanently is to loan him.
As per information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis understands Shane Duffy will be leaving the club this summer, with this likely to be a loan.

It is understood there’s at least half a dozen interested in him, with Sheffield Wednesday one of the possible destinations.
There is a belief that Norwich will have to cover some of the wages due to how much Duffy is currently on at the club, with this potentially being a sticking point in a deal, but the Ireland international will leave the club.

Positives for all parties from a deal
The decision to move Shane Duffy appears to be a positive for all involved in the deal, with the obvious one for Norwich City being the need to ease the financial expenditure by offloading some of his wages.

Meanwhile, for Duffy it is an important season ahead for the defender with Ireland aiming to qualify for their first World Cup since 2002 and the Derry native will hope to be involved ahead of the competition next summer.
For any club interested in signing the defender, they clearly need to strengthen and recruit a central defender, and Duffy is one who has vast experience at both Premier League and Championship level for several clubs.
