Hull City have been forced to wait for confirmation of signings so far this summer, and a decision has been on the future of Oli McBurnie.
The Tigers will appeal against their three-window transfer fee ban in the coming days as Sergej Jakirovic looks to build a team capable of avoiding relegation from the Championship in 2025/26.
It’s been a very frustrating summer so far for the East Yorkshire outfit, and they have been forced to await new signings as they work with the EFL.
However, they are now set to announce Oli McBurnie at the MKM Stadium despite interest from several other Championship clubs.

Hull City set to sign Oli McBurnie after hold up
McBurnie has been on the radar of Hull for the last few weeks, but their financial issues have allowed other sides to enter the race for the striker – including Ipswich Town and Sheffield United.

However, the Tigers have sent a lucrative offer to the 29-year-old and according to Alan Nixon, he is set to sign soon. Nixon said: “Hull City have got the go ahead from the EFL to sign Oli McBurnie on a free transfer.
“The Tigers put their contract proposal to the football authorities who decide how much they can offer new signings. Free agent McBurnie is willing to join and is expected to finalise a deal in the next 24 hours
“McBurnie has been offered a contract at former clubs Sheffield United and Swansea, but Hull’s persistence looks to have paid off. Ipswich made a move but have other options and could now be beaten to their target.”

Oli McBurnie is exactly who the Tigers need
Goals were a huge issue for Hull last season, and finding a player with true Championship experience who knows where the back of the net is was vital.
McBurnie, while not overly prolific, will provide consistency for a team that lacked it throughout 2024/25, and the main priority for Hull this summer in signing a suitable striker looks to have been achieved.

The Scotland international is also a leader, and playing with John Lundstram once again will give him some familiarity at his new club.
This is a statement signing for Hull, especially considering their situation with the EFL, and supporters will finally be looking forward to the new season.
