Hull City fans are still eagerly waiting for Acun Ilicali to sanction a move in one key position this summer.
Hull City have cracked on with business early on in the summer window as they prepare for the 2025/26 Championship season.
Following the controversial decision to sack Ruben Selles, Hull City brought in Segej Jakirovic, a manager who has arguably been backed so far by chief Acun Ilicali this summer.
Through the doors already at the MKM Stadium is new Hull City signing Semi Ajayi, formerly of West Brom and Rotherham United, whilst Gustavo Puerta’s deal was made permanent. On top of that, the signings of Reda Laalaoui and back-up shot-stopper Dillon Phillips have been sanctioned.
However, Hull fans are still waiting for one key signing to be made in a position they had little success in last season.

Hull City fans demand a striker signing from Acun Ilicali
At the top of Jakirovic’s wishlist this summer will almost certainly be a new striker, and that view is echoed in the thoughts of several Hull City fans. There is a general consensus that signing a forward will be make or break for their campaign.
Hull City are still in contention to sign Oli McBurnie, whilst an ambitious link to Matija Frigan has also been reported. But that is clearly not enough, fans have taken to X to demand that progress is made to bringing one through the door.
When Champ Chat Pod asked Hull fans their thoughts on the current window, one suggested that it was ‘good to get things done early but we need some attacking threat adding very soon’, whilst another said that Hull ‘still need 2 LB’s and a RB, and at least 2 Strikers’.
The necessity of forwards became an overbearing trend amongst fans, with one suggesting that they ‘still need two players that can score goals, week in, week out’, whilst another followed that up saying ‘2 strikers is a big priority’.

Tigers attacking record shows a clear reason why fans are annoyed
If there is a Championship side that desperately needs to bring in strikers this summer ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, it is Hull City without a doubt.
Top scorer Joao Pedro has left the club, a man who bagged just six goals in the Championship. If your top scorer bagged just single digits, it is a sign that things didn’t go too well during the season.
Hull were the lowest scorers in the division, and whilst this does partly come down to the injuries sustained by Mo Belloumi, Liam Millar, and then Louie Barry later on in the campaign, the recruitment simply wasn’t good enough from the start to ensure that a reliable goalscorer was added to the ranks.
There need to be some serious improvements made to the forward line. Oli McBurnie would certainly be a start, but it is also about bringing in quantity, on top of quality.
