Hull City have already been one of the busiest Championship clubs in the summer transfer window following the arrival of Sergej Jakirovic.
Jakirovic was appointed the new Hull manager earlier in June after the decision was made to sack Ruben Selles at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
The Tigers survived relegation by the skin of their teeth with a final-day draw against Portsmouth, with owner Acun Ilicali expecting Hull to be challenging nearer the top.
For City to climb towards the upper echelons of the Championship table in 2025/26, though, solid investment will be required in most areas of the pitch.
Hull kick-started their business with the signing of Reda Laalaoui from Moroccan side FUS Rabat, while Semi Ajayi joined on a free transfer after leaving West Brom.
So, with at least six more signings expected at the MKM Stadium, EFL Analysis has taken a look at what a dream transfer window looks like for Jakirovic.

Hull City sign former Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie
Hull’s most pressing issue in 2024/25 was inarguably scoring goals, finishing as the Championship’s lowest scorers.
Joao Pedro, who is set to join Mexican outfit Atletico San Luis after seeing his contract get terminated, was the club’s top scorer with a measly six, closely followed by Leeds United loanee Joe Gelhardt with five.
Hull City’s Championship top scorers 2024/25
Joao Pedro – 6 goals
Joe Gelhardt – 5 goals
Abu Kamara – 5 goals
Chris Bedia – 3 goals
That is why Hull have shown an interest in Oli McBurnie, who currently plays his football for Las Palmas after leaving Sheffield United in 2024.
McBurnie can leave Las Palmas as a free agent this summer, and although his wages could be a problem, the maverick striker could help fix their problems in front of goal. Indeed, with a record of 44 in 125 Championship games, the Tigers could do a lot worse than him.
Hull capture Nottingham Forest left-back Harry Toffolo
Hull were light on options at left-back last season. With Ryan Giles sent on loan to Middlesbrough, Selles was forced into using Sean McLoughlin as a makeshift left-back, with Matty Jacob cemented to the bench.
Jacob is now expected to leave this summer amid interest from several League One clubs, and that leaves Jakirovic with only Giles as a natural left-back in his squad.
Unfortunately, the 25-year-old has struggled in a four-man defence due to his defensive frailties, and Hull must sign someone to at least challenge him.
Nottingham Forest left-back Harry Toffolo is an option City could explore. The 29-year-old is leaving the City Ground on a free transfer and is a capable player in defence and attack.

Although we revealed that West Brom are a suitor for Toffolo, surely Hull should try and sign the ‘quality’ defender who has an impressive 15 assists in 99 Championship appearances.
Ivor Pandur stays at Hull City
Hull may have conceded 54 goals and finished fourth bottom, but if it wasn’t for Ivor Pandur, there’s a huge chance that they would have been relegated.
Pandur was incredible between the sticks and often stood firm after being faced with a barrage of shots in most matches.
The 25-year-old’s remarkable reflexes and shot-stopping were recognised by everyone in East Yorkshire, as the Croatian won all three club awards, including players, supporters and Player of the Year.
But after an outstanding Championship campaign, there are worries he could leave, with TuttoMercatoWeb reporting that Pandur’s entourage have received many ‘requests’ from clubs in England and Italy.
However, for Hull to progress next season and fly up the table, they have to keep hold of their number one.
Hull City finally sign a right-back
Full-backs were a major issue for the Tigers last term. Fans were often critical of captain Lewie Coyle’s performances, though he somehow kept his place in the side ahead of Cody Drameh.
Drameh is now wanted by multiple Championship clubs, including Blackburn Rovers and Derby County, so there is a chance he could leave this summer.
So, with Coyle being potentially the only right-back option, fans are crying out for someone to take his place, preferably a player capable of meeting the demands of Jakirovic’s high-energy system.
