What a day Saturday was for Sheffield Wednesday and their supporters as they finally took their first win of the season in the Championship.
The Owls remain in the bottom three for now, but a 2-0 victory over Portsmouth at Fratton Park could be the turning point on the pitch for a club who have had an awful few months.
Grimsby Town boss David Artell has sympathy for the South Yorkshire outfit, and there is still a long road ahead for those at Hillsborough, with some fans planning a pitch invasion against Coventry City next month.
Now, with funds still needing to be raised, Dejphon Chansiri has set a price tag on one key Sheffield Wednesday player.

Pierce Charles has new price tag set by Sheffield Wednesday
Chansiri used outside funds to pay players in August, and he is looking to do the same in September. However, with eyes already turning to the January transfer window, there will be concerns about Pierce Charles’ future.

Alan Nixon has reported that Sheffield Wednesday have set a £4m price tag on the goalkeeper, and there is interest from both the Premier League and France. Nixon said: “Sheffield Wednesday want a stunning £4m fee for keeper Pierce Charles – as they look for funds to get through the season.
“Charles is the major asset at the club and currently sidelined, but he will be sold at the right price in the next window. The young shot-stopper attracted interest before he was ruled out but the best offers were in the £2m range.
“Wednesday want double that fee and would ideally like Charles loaned back to them for the second half of the season. West Ham and Strasbourg are interested and both could increase their valuations on him and make an offer that works.
“The sum is needed despite owner Dejphon Chansiri looking to raise investment from a loan, secured against the ground. That cash would pay the wages for the rest of the season – with the only other income from the EFL in January when they are due around £5m
“Much of the EFL money that came in the summer went to unpaid wages and rival clubs who were due transfer payments. Chansiri found some cash for the August payroll and will use the same method to pay for September.
“However, he will need the investment in place soon to cover October, November and December.”

Can the Owls afford to let Pierce Charles go in January?
Charles has been injured for the majority of this season already, and Ethan Horvath has come in and done a steady job of protecting his team in goal.
However, the quality that the 20-year-old possesses makes him a key player for Pedersen, and once he is fit again, it seems incredibly likely that he makes his way straight back into the starting XI.

Horvath’s loan deal at Sheffield Wednesday only lasts until January, and with the Owls under two new embargos, bringing in replacements for not one, but two goalkeepers will be extremely difficult.
Yet, if Chansiri is still the owner of the club come the winter, then raising funds for wages may take priority, and the pull of playing in the top flight may be too much for Charles to reject.
