As Norwich City’s impressive summer transfer window activity continues, the Canaries have now been handed an update on where they stand with the pursuit of Pelle Mattsson.
Norwich have been one of the busiest clubs in the Championship so far, with Liam Manning building a very impressive squad ahead of the new campaign.
Today, we saw another Norwich City signing confirmed, with Mathias Kvistgaarden completing his move to the Canaries.
Now, another Danish star could be following him through the door at Carrow Road, but Norwich will have to move quickly if they want to get a deal done for Pelle Mattsson.

Jasper Stuker offers Pelle Mattsson update amid Norwich City talk
Over the weekend, it was reported by BILD that Norwich had a £1.7m bid rejected for the Silkeborg midfielder. Now, the club’s sporting director, Jasper Stuker, has discussed what’s going on with the future of his star man.
He told Midtyjllands Avis: “I’ve seen [the rumours], but whether it’s Portsmouth or Norwich, I don’t really have any comments. I can feel that there is generally starting to be more activity now the transfer window has started.
“I can’t say if it applies to Pelle, but I think there are some who have been on holiday and have come back now. It has been a bit difficult with some of the things we’ve been working on, but I also hope that they have come back from vacation so that we can get through it.
“There are some things in progress, and ideally it would be resolved as quickly as possible. But there are several parties that need to agree, so it may take some time.”
By the sounds of it, a number of clubs are indeed chasing Mattsson, and Silkeborg would prefer to get a deal done sooner rather than later. Based on Norwich’s swift and shrewd business in the summer transfer window so far, we wouldn’t be surprised to see them get this over the line.

What do we know about Pelle Mattsson?
Pelle Mattsson may only be 23-years-old, but he already has 139 senior appearances to his name for Silkeborg since coming through the club’s academy.
The Danish ace is very much a number 6 style midfielder; a combative player who operates in the deeper areas of the middle of the park and who loves to dictate the flow of the game.
He’s far more inclined to drop in and help the defenders than he is to burst forward and offer an attacking threat. Mattsson is solid on the ball, and while he is capable of dribbling past opponents, he does have a tendency to play it safe and relinquish possession to those around him instead.
But, what you might lose in Mattsson’s progressive carries, you gain tenfold in his ability to play a progressive pass. The Danish midfielder loves to break the lines with simple but very effective passes.
He’s a full-blooded battler who will dominate the middle of the park for whichever club he joins and regularly puts his body on the line, for better or worse. That said, there is a belief that Mattsson may need to work on his awareness and positional discipline, but if it’s simply duels we’re looking at, he’s rarely on the losing side.
