Swansea City set to beat Champions League club to ‘highly-rated’ transfer

Swansea City began their season with a loss away to Middlesbrough which may have had a small dent on the excitement currently around the Welsh club.

However, the club did put that poor result behind them with a 3-1 victory in the Carabao Cup over Crawley Town.

Luka Modric is now on the board in South Wales, while Snoop Dogg has also invested in the Swans during a summer of change.

Alan Sheehan has been busy in the market to give his side the best chance possible of surprising sides and launching an unlikely promotion push.

While the club have seemingly ended their interest in Liverpool midfielder James McConnell, they have identified the man they want operate in a defensive role.

Swansea set to sign Malick Yalcouye

Swansea City look set to bring in Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Malick Yalcouye on a season-long loan.

That is according to Anthony Joseph on X, who announced that he was in the crowd attending the Carabao Cup match between Swansea City and Crawley Town.

Yalcouye had been the subject of interest from both Toulouse and FC Copenhagen, the latter of which is currently attempting to qualify for the Champions League League Phase and are set to face Basel in the qualifiers.

Swansea have seemingly won the race as they look to push up the Championship towards the Premier League, with Brighton believing Wales to be the perfect place for the development of the Ivorian.

Alan Sheehan on Yalcouye

Swansea City boss Alan Sheehan appears to be a big fan of Yalcouye as he spoke glowingly about the midfielder with Wales Online after their victory against Crawley Town.

He said: “Hopefully we close that tomorrow.

“We’re delighted to have him in the building, he’s a player that will improve us. A player with so much energy, and so highly-rated.

“He’s had some top league clubs after him, so for him to give us the opportunity to present to him, and for him to decide to come here is obviously wonderful.

“We’ll look after him and he adds to the depth of the squad.”
