Swansea City’s pursuit of Adam Idah saw them carry out a method not seen since their time in the Premier League, according to reports.
Swansea bought Celtic striker Idah for an undisclosed fee reported to be £6million on transfer deadline day, with the Scottish club recouping a decent portion of the £9.5million they paid to sign him permanently from Norwich City in 2024.
The Swans lost 1-0 at Birmingham City on Saturday, courtesy of a late, late header from Scotland international Lyndon Dykes in the fourth minute of added time. Idah came on as a substitute in the clash.
Now, it’s being reported that the South Wales outfit won Idah’s signature thanks to the huge contract they have given him.

Swansea City are shedding £40,000 a week on Adam Idah
According to Alan Nixon via his Patreon, the Swans agreed to give the Republic of Ireland ace a deal worth close to £40,000-a-week.
That is the biggest player contract at the club and the report states that is the largest they have handed out since they were relegated from the Premier League in 2018.
Idah’s potential eye-watering wages reportedly made him determined to complete the switch.
Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers previously noted the pressure that came for Idah at Celtic Park thanks to his big price tag, and the same may be true at Swansea.
Adam Idah’s impact at Swansea City so far
So far, Idah has played three games for the Swans, coming on as a substitute in the Championship.
He started in the shock 3-2 Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest but is yet to make any goal contributions.
Zan Vipotnik’s streak of scoring in five games in a row came to an end when Idah came on for him at St Andrew’s on Saturday.
In 42 Championship minutes he has completed one progressive carry, one progress pass and received one progressive pass.
Swansea will be hoping his first goal will come against Millwall next Saturday.
