EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal where Tommy Doyle will be moving to next season.

Doyle is out of favour at Wolverhampton Wanderers and was told he could leave the club, sparking plenty of interest from Championship clubs.

Wrexham and Sheffield United, where he previously had a loan spell, were interested in his signature but the former Manchester City youth prodigy has decided that Birmingham City is where he will head to next.

Tommy Doyle set to join Birmingham City on loan

As revealed by EFL Analysis’ Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey, Doyle looks like he will be heading to St Andrews after agreeing a deal in principle.

Bailey understands that personal terms have been agreed for the 23-year-old to make the short move across the West Midlands on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy if the Blues are promoted.

He said: “Once it became known that Doyle was available, a host of clubs have come in for him.

“But once Birmingham made their move, I am told they really appealed to the player. Birmingham are close to getting this one over-the-line and beating a host of rivals in the process.”

Birmingham want to achieve back-to-back promotions and are working hard to build a side capable of challenging at the top.

We also revealed that Birmingham are close to sealing the return of Demarai Gray and Chris Davies’ side are continuing their aggressive summer transfer window stance.

Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of Tommy Doyle

Doyle will arrive at St Andrews with a rich footballing experience having been a part of the Man City academy during Pep Guardiola’s tenure.

Guardiola is a huge fan of the former England U21 international too, telling the media after his first team debut in 2019: “Tommy played so good for a first game in a position that is not natural for him. I saw him playing there for a few days when normally he plays in front but he played really good.

“Congratulations for his debut.
