After a busy transfer window, we’ve got a rundown of all the Birmingham City incomings and a list of all the players that left the Blues this summer.

Birmingham City returning to the Championship was a big deal, and we always knew the Blues would be major players in the transfer market.

They did not disappoint either, completing some of the most exciting and unexpected deals of the summer, spending a healthy amount of cash in the process.

Birmingham got a few deals over the line on deadline day, but had already transformed Chris Davies’ squad long before that.

So, here’s a look at every bit of business Birmingham completed this summer.

Before the summer transfer window officially opened, Birmingham had already made several moves.

The Blues exercised their option to make Taylor Gardner-Hickman’s move from Bristol City permanent, but they also sent him out on loan to Blackburn Rovers on deadline day.

Alfons Sampsted was a loan signing with an obligation to buy last summer as well, and that move has been completed. Elsewhere, Phil Neumann has joined Birmingham after the Midlands outfit agreed a pre-contract for the player earlier in 2025.

Overall, Birmingham signed 14 players this summer, including Demarai Gray, who rejoins Birmingham after years away from his boyhood club. The Blues completed a complex deal for Gray, which we believe didn’t technically include a transfer fee, but did involve a lot of add-ons and contractual payments.

Birmingham also signed James Beadle on loan from Brighton, while Tommy Doyle arrived on a season-long loan move from Wolves.

Fans are also buzzing about the signing of Kyogo Furuhashi, while fellow Japanese star Kanya Fujimoto also signed on.

Birmingham also pulled off quite the coup to sign Bright Osayi-Samuel. It’s thought a bumper offer sealed the deal for the winger.

In the latter stages of the window, Birmingham bagged Lewis Koumas on loan, Marvin Ducksch arrived from Werder Bremen, and Eiran Cashin from Brighton on loan.

By the time deadline day arrived, the Blues also added Patrick Roberts from Sunderland, and Jack Robinson signed on a permanent deal from Sheffield United.

Confirmed Birmingham City transfers:

In the end, Birmingham City spent around £12.5m this summer, which puts them eighth in the Championship spending table.

All Birmingham City outgoings

Birmingham confirmed via their retained list in May that Grant Hanley and Lee Myung-Jae were being released this summer. Meanwhile, Lukas Jutkiewicz has retired from football after making over 300 appearances for the Blues. He has since taken on a scouting role behind the scenes at the club.

Romelle Donovan joined Brentford on loan last season, and the Bees have since taken up a purchase clause to make that transfer permanent for a fee of £3.12m.

Elsewhere, the highest-profile departure for Birmingham saw Alfie May join Huddersfield Town for around £1.2m. It was a hard conversation for Chris Davies to have with May, but one that benefits the striker’s career given his need for minutes.

One other player Birmingham fans were sad to see depart was Krystian Bielik, who joined West Brom.

Confirmed Birmingham City outgoings:

Overall, the Blues saw 16 players depart this summer, bringing in around £8.8m in income.
