Tommy Doyle has officially completed his loan move to Birmingham City.

EFL Analysis revealed that Doyle had chosen Birmingham over the likes of Wrexham and Sheffield United and now the deal has officially been completed.

Tom Wagner wants to achieve back-to-back promotions and Doyle is one of those that fits the bill.

Reports have suggested that the deal will become permanent if the Blues secure promotion to the top flight and Birmingham are one of the favourites for promotion this season.

Tommy Doyle’s first words as a Birmingham City player

Speaking to Birmingham’s official social media channels, Doyle couldn’t hide his delight and admitted that the ‘ambition’ of the Blues was ‘difficult to turn down’.

He said: “The way the club is going about its business is really impressive and it shows that the club is only going one way. That’s really exciting for us as players, for staff members and, most importantly, for the fans.

“There’s a clear path on what’s happening and what’s going to happen, so in the meantime you’ve got to trust the process, live in the moment and enjoy it, and I’m looking forward to doing that.

“I knew about it (the move) quite early on, which again was nice because it showed the intent of the football club that they wanted me, so that always feels good. You always take that into consideration when making a decision, but the ambition of this football club and the way it’s going, it’s difficult to turn down.”

Tommy Doyle’s Championship experience is exactly what Birmingham need

After Birmingham smashed the League One points record last season, there is an argument to say that they will fare well in the Championship.

However, a lot of Chris Davies’ squad have limited experience of second tier football and need bodies with the know-how to guide them to the upper echelons of the table.

As well as his 50 Premier League appearances, Doyle has significant Championship experience from his days at Cardiff City and Sheffield United.

Still only 23, it’s valuable to have a player with that much first team exposure and he could be a master stroke bit of business.
