After seeing his Southampton side fall to a crushing 3-1 defeat against Hull City, Will Still did not hold back in his post-match press conference.
It’s been a poor start to the season for Southampton, to say the least. After being relegated from the Premier League and recruiting heavily this summer, many predicted the Saints would challenge for promotion.
However, one win in six games leaves Will Still and the South Coast club lingering in 19th place right now. And, given the manner of the defeat to Hull City on Saturday afternoon, things are not looking good.
It was a long-awaited win for Hull, but Southampton fans may well be running out of patience with their new manager now.

Will Still comments after latest Southampton defeat
Fans making the 250-mile trip to the East Coast will not have been happy with what they saw. Neither was Will Still, for that matter.
Speaking after the game, he said: “I’m really disappointed. I think we’ve worked incredibly hard on things out of possession, I think we’ve worked hard on things in possession. I think for large parts of that game we were totally in control, but we’ve just gifted three goals away.
“As long as we’re defending like that we’re not going to go anywhere. I’ll take it on me, I’ll take it as my responsibility and we just need to get on with things.”
Perhaps we’re reading too much into things, but when managers start talking about going nowhere and admitting everything is their fault, it usually doesn’t end well.
The Championship season is long and arduous, and as things stand, it doesn’t really look like Will Still will last the 46 games.

How much patience will Southampton board have?
Southampton spent over £48m this summer. Only Ipswich Town spent more, and while the Saints brought in plenty of money from the sales of Tyler Dibling and Mateus Fernandes, that is still a very costly window for the Southampton board.
While some may allow Still the caveat of losing those two players, it’s undeniable that he has a squad more than capable of winning the Championship, never mind going for promotion.
We believe Southampton will spend big again in January. However, if results don’t improve soon, it’s hard to imagine them backing Will Still with even more money.
Francis Benali claimed Southampton need three wins from the next four games before the Hull defeat. That means we need to see back-to-back-to-back wins for Still from here on out, or there really could be trouble on the horizon.
