It was a dramatic ending in the West Midlands on Saturday afternoon for Birmingham City, as they left it incredibly late to beat Swansea City 1-0 at St. Andrew’s.
Following a stuttering start to the campaign, there were plenty of eyes on Blues this weekend, against a side who beat Premier League opposition in the form of Nottingham Forest in mid-week.
However, Lyndon Dykes’ 94th minute header ensured that the Swans travelled back to South Wales with nothing to show for their efforts, despite a controversial disallowed goal in the first half.
It was quite the moment for Chris Davies, who is not under any pressure at Birmingham, but it was another star who supporters raved over on social media.
Birmingham City and Sunderland fans praise Patrick Roberts after stunning performance
Patrick Roberts joined Blues on deadline day, despite Derby County showing an interest in the winger, and he proved why the ambitious Championship side brought him in on loan against Swansea.

The 28-year-old came off the bench in the 66th minute, and he changed the game, finding Dykes with a superb cross for the header, with both Birmingham and Sunderland fans singing his praises.
While a Black Cats supporter was in agreement: “Just give him the ball. Watched the game and as soon as he got the ball on his left foot we as SAFC fans knew exactly what he’d do. And his right foot ain’t too bad Nick. He’s way too good for the championship mate. If it had been down to me he’d still be here…”
With another writing: “Perfect for that level lads – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, he’ll produce when it matters most. Has a habit of it. Best of luck for the season.”
One Birmingham fan said: “Him not starting is criminal.”
And another Blues supporter backed that opinion: “Got to start next week 100%.”

Patrick Roberts was the difference vs Swansea City
Blues make the trip to fellow West Midlands outfit Coventry City next weekend, and the general consensus is that Roberts must be handed his first league start against the Sky Blues.
It’s clear to see why, with the tricky winger once again proving his worth in the Championship as Swansea struggled to contain him, with his whipped cross into Dykes inch-perfect.

Allowing the former Manchester City man the opportunity to cut in on his left foot is extremely dangerous and he has the ability to create something out of nothing.
It was one of two chances that he created for Birmingham in just 23 minutes and Davies now has a selection headache for when his side make the trip to the CBS Arena on Saturday.
