Birmingham City are now 90 minutes away from making history – Tom Brady prediction was right

Birmingham City return to League One action on Tuesday evening against Bristol Rovers and could make history.

After suffering relegation to the third tier of English football for the first time since the mid-’90s, Birmingham City have undergone a staggering transformation.

Tom Brady made a big prediction after their fate was sealed last year, claiming, ‘we’ll achieve great things in the future’ – and he was most certainly correct.

Jay Stansfield is League One’s most expensive player ever, following his mega-money move to St Andrew’s over the summer.

And he, along with a number of other new signings, have played a key role in the Blues completely wiping the floor with the competition.

Chris Davies’ men are nine points clear at the top of League One and still have two games in hand on second-place Wrexham.

With the league title all but wrapped up, the focus will now likely be on Birmingham breaking League One records.

How Birmingham City can make history vs Bristol Rovers

The Midlands outfit have already broken a couple this season and could set a few more during their final nine matches.

86 points from 37 games means they are well on course to beat the current record for most points earned in a single campaign – 103 by Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2013/14.

Meanwhile, Birmingham could make some club history when they meet Bristol Rovers on April 1 in an 8pm UK time kick-off.

The pair last faced off on December 24th, 2024, with Stansfield and Lee Buchanan the scorers in a 2-0 win.

Now, after that victory, a win for Davies’ men on Tuesday would see them do a league double over Bristol Rovers for the first time in their history.

Nine of those matches ended as draws, with Rovers coming out on top on just two occasions.

Birmingham are also nearing another remarkable feat ahead of the match.

They have already picked up 32 points on the road this term, and a win on Tuesday would take that total to 35.
