Birmingham City are in a real slump right now and were beaten again at the weekend.
The Blues were hammered by Coventry City in what was their fourth loss in their last five games.
It was the heaviest defeat Birmingham have suffered under Chris Davies and supporters are losing patience with him.
Davies has put a lot of faith in the players that helped them to win the League One title, but Birmingham Live reporter Alex Dicken has suggested now is the time to unleash one summer signing.

Birmingham expert thinks Tommy Doyle should play
Paik Seung-ho and Tomoki Iwata have been the two in the middle of the park for the Blues this season but, after a bright start, have begun to fade away.
Iwata gave the ball away carelessly while Paik was at fault for Coventry’s opener when he didn’t track the run of Brandon Thomas-Asante.
While they struggle to replicate last season’s form, Tommy Doyle is still waiting for his first real chance.
Doyle was signed on loan this summer but has only made one league start and Dicken thinks that the midweek game against Sheffield Wednesday is the perfect time to give him a chance.
Writing for Birmingham Live, he said: “This isn’t to say Davies should break up his tried and trusted midfield pairing, but if Tommy Doyle can’t get a game now then when will he?
“A home game against Sheffield Wednesday in the middle of a three-game week is the perfect time to try something new.”
Birmingham don’t need to panic with Paik and Iwata
Paik and Iwata may not be hitting the same heights as last season, but the stats suggest they haven’t dropped off as much as it sounds.
The two were the most important cogs in League One last season but struggled to compete in the midfield battles against the better sides in the league.
| Stats | Paik Seung-ho | Tomoki Iwata |
|---|---|---|
| Games played | 7 | 7 |
| Tackles | 12 | 14 |
| Duels won | 33 (58.9%) | 29 (69.5%) |
| Aerial duels won | 12 (70.6%) | 7 (70%) |
| Pass completion rate | 84.2% | 79.4% |
| FotMob rating | 7.13 | 7.01 |
Both rank high in the stats charts, regularly going near the top of the leaderboard.
It won’t be long before the tide begins to turn; however, there is no need to panic just yet.
