Birmingham City may not be top of the Championship, but they are leading the way in England’s top four tiers in a key statistic.
The Blues have lost three games on the bounce, but EFL Analysis understands Chris Davies has time to put things right after winning promotion from League One last term, starting with Swansea City at home this weekend.
Birmingham have won two of their opening five league fixtures, drawing one and losing the other two.
But it’s their home form that has seen them beat Premier League champions Liverpool, Arsenal and every other of English football’s 92 clubs with their form at home.

Birmingham City have longest unbeaten home streak in Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two
Birmingham City are unbeaten in each of their last 27 home league games.
They suffered a 1-0 defeat to Port Vale in the Carabao Cup in their current three game losing streak, but this hasn’t affected their league run.
Davies has overseen 22 wins and five draws at St Andrew’s, the longest ongoing run in England’s top four tiers.
He won the League Managers’ Association’s League One manager of the year for last season as a result. Continuing to make St Andrew’s a fortress will be key in Birmingham achieving their ambition of reaching the Premier League.
Chris Davies admits Birmingham City ‘need to improve’ in creating clear-cut chances
One key area letting the Blues down currently is their shots on target. The club currently sit bottom of the league when it comes to that attacking statistic, managing nine so far and lagging behind basement club Sheffield United.
Davies touched on the issue in his Swansea press conference. He said: “We’ve done work this week and we will continue to develop our attacking play around how we can become more unpredictable for the opposition, get our most dangerous players on the ball more and quicken up our attacks in the final third.
“The build-up, the first two-thirds, has been very strong. Against every opposition we’ve had we’ve worked the ball to final third well, we’ve had more touches in the opposition box than Leicester, probably Stoke as well, but it’s those final combinations and quality that are missing at the moment.”

“There’s a fine balance to this because you can create a mountain out of a molehill really and players get too tense in those decisive moments. What we need to do is understand that’s an area we need to improve, but not overthink it.”
Now is the perfect time for the Blues to bounce back. Birmingham are unbeaten in each of their last eight league matches against Swansea, winning three and drawing five, since a 3-1 home defeat in July 2020.
