Blackburn Rovers finally got their season started as they secured their first win of the campaign against Hull City in the Championship at the weekend.
It was a fine display by Valerien Ismael’s team, with one player impressing in particular, their new captain Todd Cantwell, as he led by example for his team-mates.
The 27-year-old has seemingly flourished since taking on the role of captain of Blackburn Rovers, as Lewis Travis made it clear he wanted to leave the club for Derby County.
A deal is now in place for Travis to join Derby County, while Blackburn Rovers brought in his replacement before agreeing to allow the former captain to leave, and this new signing has explained exactly why he wanted to join Blackburn Rovers.
Moussa Baradji on his dream move to Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn Rovers signed Moussa Baradji ahead of their match with Hull City at the weekend, with the deal having been long in the works, having been delayed from earlier this summer.
Speaking with Rovers TV, Baradji explained how he has achieved his dream of moving to England, something that had been on his mind since growing up in France.
He said: “Since I was a kid, I’ve always dreamed of joining a team in England. I knew of the club when I was in France, and when I had discussions about the project and learned of the environment.
“We have been discussing the move for a long time. When he was getting messages from Blackburn fans, it gave him the willingness to come even more.
“It was special, as it was the first time I’d had that. It gave me positive energy. I look forward to trying to score goals and celebrating with the fans, sharing their passion.”

What Blackburn fans can expect from Moussa Baradji
The new Blackburn Rovers signing will be hopeful he can help the club end 13 years of misery when Norwich City visit Ewood Park this weekend, as he aims to be involved for his debut.
Baradji has explained exactly what Blackburn fans can expect from him when he is on the pitch wearing the blue and white of the club this campaign, as he said to Rovers TV.
He said: “I’m a box-to-box midfielder with technical and physical abilities. I’m able to play up and down the pitch to try and provide assists and score goals.
“I haven’t watched lots of the Championship, and I’ll need time to adapt, but I will put a lot of effort in to ensure I’m successful on the pitch.
“Now, to know if I will be successful with my qualities, only the pitch will talk. The jump from Switzerland to England is a big step, but I believe that I have what’s needed to respond to it.
“I believe and hope that the journey with Rovers for myself and the club will be a successful one. My dream is to be a Premier League player, and if I can do this with Rovers, then that would be great.”
