Leicester City allowed Daniel Iversen to leave the King Power Stadium over the summer, and he is producing miracles for Preston North End.

Relegation from the Premier League was always going to bring changes for Leicester City.

Jamie Vardy called time on his Foxes career, while Bilal El Khannouss joined Stuttgart in a big-money move.

Leicester also said goodbye to two goalkeepers, as Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen were both released at the end of their contracts.

Ward returned to hometown club Wrexham, while Iversen completed an emotional move of his own.

Iversen rejoined former club Preston North End on a permanent basis, having once spent 18 months on loan at Deepdale.

The Dane was a fan favourite during his time with PNE, but was not able to nail down a place in the Leicester City team.

Iversen was more than happy to return to Deepdale, and he has been producing moments of magic for the Lilywhites.

Leicester saw that for themselves, as Iversen pulled off a ridiculous save to deny Abdul Fatawu from close range earlier this season.

As if that wasn’t enough, Iversen produced another miraculous stop to preserve a 0-0 draw against Bristol City on Saturday.

Bristol City’s Anis Mehmeti appeared to have the goal at his mercy in the dying seconds at Deepdale, and he only had Iversen to beat.

Iversen somehow clawed Mehmeti’s effort away from goal to leave PNE team-mates in awe at his latest save of the season contender.

They say goalkeepers can win points on their own, and Iversen has been proof of that in the opening weeks of PNE’s season.

Iversen never quite broke through as a Leicester regular, but he has found a home at Deepdale, and there will undoubtedly be more great saves to come.

Paul Heckingbottom on Preston North End goalkeeper Daniel Iversen

Iversen has a close connection with PNE goalkeeping coach Mike Pollitt, having also worked together at Rotherham United.

The pair are back together once more, but this is Paul Heckingbottom’s first time working with the Dane.

Heckingbottom has certainly been impressed, hailing Iversen while speaking on PNE’s official website.

The North End boss highlighted that Iversen ‘makes big saves’ and can win points on his own, which is why PNE wanted him back.

Heckingbottom feared the worst when Mehmeti moved in on goal, but praised Iversen for producing a huge save.

“That’s why we wanted him here. He makes big saves and they do win you points,” said Heckingbottom.

“You might be three up and they make a save, so you were getting the points anyway, but when the game’s as finely balanced as that, you can see both teams are going at it trying to get the winner. Your head’s in your hands a little bit when it’s that late, and you see him through because you know there’s no defenders around him, and we really were relying on Dan there.

“The defenders have protected him so well at the beginning of the season, and he’s come up with a big, big save today to get us the point,” he added.

PNE have now recorded back-to-back clean sheets, and Iversen will hope to make it three in a row against Hull City on Tuesday night.
