It really is just one thing after another with Dejphon Chansiri this summer, and the Sheffield Wednesday owner has now failed to make more payments.
All summer long, we’ve seen Dejphon Chansiri and his financial issues plunge Sheffield Wednesday into chaos. The club has had to let a number of players go, staff have gone unpaid, and the EFL have hit the Owls with a transfer embargo.
While Henrik Pedersen does his best to keep the club afloat on the pitch, Chansiri continues to drag Wednesday into more chaos.
This week, Barry Bannan asked Chansiri for better communication. But, with plenty of payment deadlines looming, it seems the Thai businessman is getting backed further and further into a corner.

Dejphon Chansiri financial struggles continue
We already knew that this would be a hugely challenging week for Chansiri. Not only does he have staff and player wages to pay again, but over £7m in stadium debts also need to be paid before September 30th.
As per Andy Giddings, we understand Chansiri has failed to make payments across the board this week. He tweeted: “Hearing from multiple sources [that] Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri missed deadlines this week to make some football and non-football payments.”
Exactly what those payments are is unclear, but Giddings did offer some clarity. “There are growing fears that unless things change then not all staff will be paid on time again. Sadly it ain’t shocking anymore,” he added.
If that is the case, it will be the fifth time this year that Chansiri has failed to pay wages on time. The sad thing is, the owner will likely not even face up to the reality of this. Indeed, Barry Bannan explained he has been fielding questions himself from staff and players all summer instead of Chansiri.

It’s time for Chansiri to give up at Sheffield Wednesday
Between fan protests at Sheffield Wednesday increasing, and the Independent Football Regulator preparing to step in, the net is certainly closing on Chansiri.
Sheffield Wednesday boycotts are starving Chansiri of key funds. Eventually, he will run out of money and ways to keep his head above water. How long that will be remains to be seen, but it’s coming.
The smart thing to do, surely, would be for Chansiri to give up now and sell the club to the highest bidder. He is gaining nothing by staying put. Be it greed, pride, or spite, this reluctance to move on cannot be worth the hassle, you’d think.
