‘Don’t we ever learn?’ – Leicester City fans are all in the same boat as Josh Brownhill rejects record pay day

Leicester City fans are in overwhelming agreement following Josh Brownhill’s decision to reject the Foxes.

EFL Analysis exclusively revealed that Brownhill turned down the chance to earn £100,000-a-week at the Foxes, providing they had earned promotion to the Premier League.

Earlier in the window we reported that Leicester had offered Brownhill a contract but Marti Cifuentes has moved on to other targets as Jordan James and Aaron Ramsey prepare to join the Foxes on loan.

It’s been a frustrating window in terms of incomings for Leicester, but there is only one response to Brownhill’s rejection.

Leicester City fans are delighted that Josh Brownhill rejected move

After we revealed that Leicester were not under a business plan amid the ongoing financial difficulties, it’s fair to say that signing Brownhill for astronomical wages would not have gone down well.

The former Burnley captain scored 18 goals in their Championship promotion-winning season last year but that still wasn’t enough to persuade Foxes fans.

@1982dede said: “Glad he rejected us. That’s just the kind of deal that got us into a mess in the first place!”

@fox_army1 commented: “100k a week,” followed by a skull-face emoji.

@Ryanlcfc2 wrote: “Its fine, we don’t need him anyway especially with wage demands he and his agent would be after.”

@lukepalms15 added: “Good! Don’t we ever learn? Offering 100k a week.”

Leicester have dodged a bullet with Josh Brownhill deal

Of course, anyone with 18 goals in the Championship will be seen as someone who will improve your squad, but one of the reasons the Foxes are here in the first place is their failure to deal with finances properly.

Leicester have spent all summer trimming their wage bill so that they can make some additions for the right price.

Julian Carranza, Ramsey and James all represent good value in loan-to-buy offers whereas Brownhill would have been a case of throwing all chips on red.
