Leicester City are looking at two midfielders in their hunt for Josh Brownhill alternatives on transfer deadline day, according to reports.
Marti Cifuentes’ side have just won two Championship games in a row following their mixed start to the season, following up their 1-0 win at Charlton by beating Birmingham City 2-0 on Friday night.
Leicester have signed just one player this summer, bringing Asmir Begovic in on a free transfer. Target Mihailo Ivanovic from Millwall has had a £10million price tag slapped on him, and the Foxes may now lose out on signing free agent Josh Brownhill following his departure from Burnley last term.
Now, reports state the 2016 Premier League winners are looking at two other top flight midfielders in their bid to boost their midfield options.

Aaron Ramsey and Jordan James targeted by Leicester City
According to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Leicester are looking at Burnley’s Aaron Ramsey and Rennes’ Jordan James.
Ramsey, who joined the Clarets in 2023, has had limited game time with Scott Parker’s team after suffering a horror knee injury against Arsenal.
He scored the winning goal and played the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 victory over Derby County in the second round of the Carabao Cup, but has been on the bench in Burnley’s Premier League fixtures.
James, meanwhile, has been on Wrexham and Ipswich’s radar. However, the Welsh side have recently agreed a deal for Coventry midfielder, Ben Sheaf.
Sky Sports are reporting Leicester have beaten Wrexham to the young Wales international after talks with Rennes progressed well. James is thought to be keen on a move to the King Power Stadium.
The former Birmingham City player has been playing in France since last summer, but is yet to get any minutes so far this season.
Both players’ moves are expected to be loans amid Leicester’s reported financial issues.
Josh Brownhill an option for Wolverhampton Wanderers
Brownhill had been a Leicester target after leaving Burnley following the expiration of his contract last term.
The former Clarets captain bagged 18 goals last season as he led his side to promotion to the Premier League, and reports have suggested he is keen to play in the top flight, posing a potential blow to Leicester.
Last month, the Foxes had reportedly offered the midfielder a long-term contract.
| Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 2024/25 | 44 | 18 | 6 |
| 2023/24 | 35 | 4 | 3 |
| 2022/23 | 48 | 7 | 10 |
Now, though, BBC Sport state Brownhill is an option for Premier League Wolves, who are bottom of the table and in desperate need of new recruits after a winless start to their league campaign.
Wolves can only sign homegrown players with their quota for non-homegrown already at maximum capacity. The BBC say talks have been held with the 29-year-old.
