Leicester City thrown transfer hurdle as Millwall set eight-figure asking price on Mihailo Ivanovic

Leicester City have been on the hunt for a new striker throughout this summer following Jamie Vardy’s departure.

The striker left the Foxes at the end of last season, and he is now closing in on a move to Italian side Cremonese, according to Fabrizio Romano.

However, this means that the East Midlands outfit have had huge boots to fill throughout the transfer window. Now, Julian Carranza is set to make the switch to the King Power Stadium from Feyenoord to be that replacement.

Nevertheless, there has been significant Leicester interest in Millwall’s Mihailo Ivanovic over the last few weeks and now it has been revealed why it has been so difficult to bring in the 20-year-old.

The Serbia U21 international had an excellent first season in the Championship last time out, scoring 12 goals in 37 games for the Lions.

It is this form that saw Leicester open up to the idea of signing Ivanovic, but the Foxes have been handed a huge ultimatum by their divisional rivals.

According to Sky Sports, a £10m asking fee has been placed on the head of the striker, with a further £2m needed in add-ons to take him away from The Den ahead of today’s 7pm deadline.

While Ivanovic is yet to score this season, there is no denying his quality, but Leicester look to have moved on from the Millwall ace.

Millwall have done excellently to keep Mihailo Ivanovic

Leicester were fantastic against Birmingham City on Friday evening, but bringing in a striker with an eye for goal is crucial for their success going forward.

But, for an eight-figure fee, Ivanovic could be seen as a very risky signing and they are perhaps right to not spend such a significant amount of money on the forward – especially if he does not start firing straight away.

However, Millwall know all the qualities that the Serbian possesses and Alex Neil will be hoping to get through the rest of Monday without any late twists.

The Lions’ play-off ambitions rely on Ivanovic staying at the club, and they look to have put off any potential suitors with this asking price.
