Frank Lampard has given his verdict on Coventry City player Victor Torp after the win over Birmingham City.
Coventry City‘s strong start to the 2025/26 season continued with another strong win on Saturday, with three more goals taking the Sky Blues’ tally up to 18 already this season.
Brandon Thomas-Asante and Victor Torp were on target for the Sky Blues, along with an own goal, as Coventry City beat Birmingham City 3-0 on home soil.
Torp now has five goals in seven Championship appearances for Frank Lampard‘s side this season, now sitting just one goal away from his tally for the entirety of last season’s Championship campaign.

Frank Lampard lavishes praise on Victor Torp’s form at Coventry City
Speaking after the game, Lampard was asked about Torp’s form this season, and the Chelsea and England legend almost indirectly compared the Danish midfield maestro to himself; in that he’s an all-round midfielder who can score an array of goals.
Lampard said: “He is, and they’re all sorts of goals. He scores his free kicks, and he’s from distance, but I love the goal we scored today, because that means he’s had to sprint 60 yards to start the play, so that was great from him, and, yeah, he’s going up levels.
“He’s a player that, when we came in, there was a feeling that he’s in and out of the team, and we looked at him technically, in his training, his mentality, and the way he plays, and we just felt there’s a player to really, really work with, and he’s easy to work with, because he’s so keen to improve, and listen, and learn, and he’s getting better, and he’s just a really smart, technically really good football player who gets around the pitch, got all the great attributes for an all-round midfield player.”
Coventry City’s top scorers in 25/26 so far
Coventry are looking like early promotion contenders under Lampard, who guided the Sky Blues to strong second half of last season too.
And it’s in attack where the team are really shining, albeit having now lost Jack Rudoni to injury, with the midfielder expected to miss the next few weeks.
Torp though looks like he can pick up the slack in midfield: he’s already on five goals for the season, making him Coventry City’s joint top scorer and also the Championship’s joint top scorer.
| Coventry City’s top scorers 25/26 | Goals (Champ) |
| Victor Torp | 5 |
| Haji Wright | 5 |
| Brandon Thomas-Asante | 3 |
| Jack Rudoni | 2 |
| Ephron Mason-Clark | 1 |
Up next for the Sky Blues is a trip to Millwall in midweek, before a trip to Sheffield Wednesday on the weekend.
