Hayden Hackney has not travelled to Glasgow with Middlesbrough for their pre-season friendly against Rangers.

New Middlesbrough manager Rob Edwards took charge of his first pre-season friendly on July 19, facing Mansfield Town.

After securing a three-goal lead, Boro were pegged back and forced to settle for a 3-3 draw.

Middlesbrough then lost to Bradford City earlier this week, though Edwards was quick to praise a couple of players.

The Teessiders’ latest fixture comes against Rangers on July 26, and Hayden Hackney is not with the group.

Hayden Hackney absent for Middlesbrough vs Rangers

The midfielder has not made the trip to Scotland amid a potential summer exit, with a host of clubs keen.

We revealed in March that Hayden Hackney would likely leave Middlesbrough if they failed to make the play-offs this past season.

The England U21 international is Boro’s most sellable asset as he came from their academy.

And we reported earlier in July that Hackney was changing agents ahead of leaving Middlesbrough.

It’s our understanding that all of Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, FC Porto, Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt and Atalanta have looked at the player.

More clubs interested in Hayden Hackney

As well as the likes of Man Utd and Spurs, a few more names have been linked with the Boro ace recently.

Middlesbrough fans laughed at Ipswich Town trying to sign their star midfielder following their relegation.

Everton hold an interest in Hackney as well, where he could reunite with former Boro player Mark Travers.
