Sheffield Wednesday fans have been growing more and more vocal week by week this season, and the latest protest planned for this weekend’s game against Bristol City is going to make the stands ‘shake’ at Hillsborough.
Dejphon Chansiri has put Sheffield Wednesday fans through a torrid time this summer, with financial mismanagement leading to severe issues for the club.
The Owls have largely been unable to sign new players and Henrik Pedersen is now having to navigate the season with a threadbare squad. Even as Sheffield Wednesday shop for free agents, they could face struggles to register them with the EFL.
Supporters have made their feelings very clear this season. They want Chansiri out, and they intend to shout that from the rafters at Hillsborough stadium this weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday supporters have big protest planned for Bristol City match
Many believe the protests at Hillsborough weren’t effective enough for the first home game of the season. But, that could all change on Saturday when Bristol City come to S6.
As per a tweet from the 1867 Group, there are big plans to send a real statement to Chansiri, wherever he may be, with another protest being arranged for this weekend.
The message from the 1867 Group reads: “This Saturday, after the final whistle against Bristol City, we ask all Owls to gather under the South Stand in protest.
“Many of us remember standing in that same place during our darkest hours – when chants of ‘Sack the Board’ rang out against previous regimes. Those moments were painful but they showed that Sheffield Wednesday supporters will always rise up when our club is being destroyed.
“Now, the situation is even worse. We no longer have a board – only a chairman in hiding. A man who has stripped our club of its identity, decimated our finances, alienated our fanbase and left Hillsborough to rot. Through every era, Owls fans have stood tall. We have always fought for our club. Now, more than ever, Sheffield Wednesday needs us to do it again.”
They conclude the message with a real call to arms. If this comes to fruition as planned, it could be the biggest, loudest protest for Wednesday so far.
The tweet ends: “Bring your banners. Bring your voices. Bring your passion. Let the South Stand shake with chanting like never before. Let the nation, the EFL and Chansiri see that we will not sit silently while our club dies in the shadows. This is our club. This is our fight. Chansiri Out.”

Fan protests can set the stage for Independent Football Regulator to remove Chansiri
There are some who would claim these protests will not change a thing. That’s wrong, though. Not only do they give supporters power and an outlet to show their passion and pain at the current situation, but they can also hit Chansiri where it hurts.
If fans continue to boycott the ground, refuse to spend money at Hillsborough, and shame Chansiri for the things he has done then they will harm his revenue stream and his reputation.
It’s already thought Chansiri has been disowned in a way by the Thai Union Group, his family business. The longer this messy situation continues at Sheffield Wednesday, the worse that will get.
But, more importantly, if Chansiri is starved of funds, he will be the prime target for the Independent Football Regulator. It may be November when that governing body becomes truly operational, but it’s already thought they will look at Chansiri as a priority.
For Sheffield Wednesday fans, November cannot come soon enough.
