One decision sanctioned by Acun Ilicali has been questioned by a Hull City supporter, with a debate sparking as to whether it was the correct call.

Hull City have undergone a hectic summer in the transfer window.

Following Hull City’s transfer fee restriction, which initially prohibited the Tigers for three windows, starting immediately, fans began to dread the worst.

Fortunately, Hull City enjoyed a positive transfer window, spearheaded by chairman Acun Ilicali and Head of Recruitment Jarden Dublin, who, in spite of the restrictions, brought in the likes of proven Championship forward Oli McBurnie.

However, one decision has been placed under the spotlight, with debate sparking as to whether the correct call was made to loan out one forward with four goals in his last six.

Mason Burstow shines on loan as Hull City fans question departure

Hull City loaned Mason Burstow to Bolton Wanderers this summer after a challenging debut campaign at the MKM Stadium, which saw the former Chelsea and Sunderland striker bag just two goals in 31 Championship appearances.

It has been a different story for the 22-year-old this season, though, with four goals so far in League One for Steve Schumacher’s Bolton, as well as a Player of the Month award from his loan club.

Following a bright start to life at the ToughSheet Stadium, one Hull City fan has questioned the decision to loan out the young forward in the first place, suggesting that he ‘needs to be recalled in January’.

However, many disagreed with this take from a Tigers supporter, suggesting that ‘this is exactly what Burstow needs’.

Another fan suggested: “Let him play and get his confidence up, he will be rotting on the bench for us.”

One supporter then asked: “Why would we recall him? He’s doing well and can be a good player for next season.”

Hull City have put all their eggs in one basket with Oli McBurnie

When Hull City sanctioned the loan for Mason Burstow to move to Bolton Wanderers, the Tigers were very light on options.

Fortunately, it was followed up by the signings of Oli McBurnie, Enis Destan and Joe Gelhardt, who currently make up the striker options available to Sergej Jakirovic.

Because of Destan’s injury, Hull City have two fit out-and-out strikers, with there being plenty of expectation on McBurnie, in particular, to provide a necessary goal output this season.

While it does not make sense to recall Burstow in January, even if he is enjoying a prolific spell in League One, Hull City have already made a bold call to have just three strikers, especially with Destan being unproven at this level.
