Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic has spoken about one star being targeted by Championship clubs, someone who should be seen as indispensable this summer.
The 2025/26 Championship season is just over two weeks away for Hull City, and it looks set to be a challenging campaign for the East Yorkshire outfit.
Hull City have been slapped with a fee restriction this summer, although Tigers chief Acun Ilicali is optimistic that their sanctions will be dropped.
The current climate means that Hull City’s scope in the summer window is rather limited, making it of paramount importance for Turkish mogul Ilicali to retain players.
One Hull City star, for example, has attracted interest from several clubs, including Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers and Rangers. Tigers boss Sergej Jakirovic has spoken about him, and his words hopefully indicate that Hull are likely to keep hold of him despite other clubs eyeing him up.

Hull City boss discusses Cody Drameh amid interest from elsewhere
Hull City star Cody Drameh has been linked with a move away from the club ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season, with Championship clubs notably circling for the former Derby County man.
Whilst there is still uncertainty where he will be come the end of the window, Sergej Jakirovic’s verdict on Drameh will hopefully give Tigers fans confidence over his being retained this summer.
“Yes (I’ve been impressed with him), he has trained very, very good,” said Jakirovic to Hull Live. “Cody has big abilities, and he can repeat them all day and all night, so it’s very, very good for us. He’s still a young player, and he also needs support. We have two very good options at the right full-back position.”
“This is normal,” Jakirovic said of the interest in Drameh. “He’s young, he has potential, and as I say, he can repeat (his actions all day), and this is modern football today.”
In the current situation that Hull find themselves in, only sizeable offers should be considered for players where Jakirovic is not lacking squad depth.
Hull City, despite the sanctions, are not in a position where they need to sell, and considering that Acun Ilicali would likely struggle to replace Drameh with a free agent of a similar quality, it should be a case that offers are not even entertained.

Minimal right-back squad depth should lead Hull City to keep Cody Drameh
On top of Hull City’s inability to replace players by spending money, the first-team is already stripped to the bare bones in the right-back position as it is, making any potential sale of Cody Drameh a very bad idea.
Sergej Jakirovic also spoke about the opportunity that Drameh will get after Lewie Coyle suffered an injury during the Turkey pre-season tour: “Yes, of course (it hands a chance to the 23-year-old), but we need in every position two good players because it’s a very long season and you can get an injury in every training session, in every game, so I hope he (Coyle) will come back soon.”
Selling Drameh would be a huge concern for Hull City, one that would leave Jakirovic far from happy with his defensive options. Acun Ilicali must hold on to the right-back, or dire consequences could loom for the club.
