QPR are being forced to continue their hunt for a new manager after it emerged on Monday afternoon that Johannes Hoff Thorup has rejected a job offer at Loftus Road.
While Marti Cifuentes is still in charge, Thorup looked likely to take over from the Spaniard after he was put on gardening leave following his interest in the West Bromwich Albion vacancy.
QPR are in the midst of a busy period, with Jonathan Varane now the subject of a bid from Espanyol, and the West London outfit will be looking for a new head coach to take charge quickly to bring stability to the club.
However, they are going to have to look elsewhere for their Cifuentes replacement, putting a further delay on QPR’s preparations for the 2025/26 Championship campaign.
Johannes Hoff Thorup rejects offer from QPR
Danish outlet Tipsbladet have now stated that the former Norwich City boss has rejected an offer from the R’s after travelling to London for talks.

EFL Analysis previously revealed that the 36-year-old has more options than just QPR, with offers from across Europe after Norwich sacked him ahead of the end of the campaign – the Canaries ultimately finished 13th.
Queens Park Rangers must now move quickly to interview other candidates, with it looking unlikely that they will be able to entice Thorup to Loftus Road this summer.
TipsBladet also revealed that they asked the Danish manager for a comment, but he is not willing to speak at this time.
There may be time for Marti Cifuentes to make amends
While there will be a lot of vitriol aimed at Cifuentes after he appeared to force a move away from QPR, he proved over the course of the 2024/25 campaign how important he is to the club going forward.
A poor run of form at the end of the season denied the R’s a chance of pushing for the play-offs, but after a devastating opening few months, he was able to get his team away from any threat of relegation and into the mid-table battle.

| 17 | 46 | 13 | 14 | 19 | 49 | 65 | -16 | 53 |
It is clear to see that Cifuentes can be the right man for the job at Loftus Road in the right environment, but he has to find a way to make amends if he is to stay in charge.
The journey that he has started to take QPR on is an exciting one, but the relationship may already be too fractured for the parties to come back together.
