Josh Windass has released a documentary detailing his final season at Sheffield Wednesday, chronicling the 2024/25 season before his transfer to Wrexham.
Sheffield Wednesday have been the talk of the Championship this summer for all the wrong reasons.
The financial turmoil plaguing the Owls, under the ownership of Dejphon Chansiri, has seen several high-profile Sheffield Wednesday players head for the exit door.
Callum Paterson has joined MK Dons after his Owls exit, Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba have been sold, and at the same time, Josh Windass and Michael Smith terminated their contracts.
Windass joined Wrexham from Wednesday, and now the prolific forward has shared a final parting message with the Owls faithful in a documentary capturing his final season with the Owls.

Josh Windass thanks Sheffield Wednesday fans after leaving for Wrexham
Windass departed the Owls after five-and-a-half seasons with the club, scoring 50 goals and registering 22 assists in 182 appearances.
As a result, Windass’ exit came before he could enter Sheffield Wednesday’s five all-time top scorers list, but his impact at Hillsborough was still undeniable regardless.
Windass’ first words after signing for Wrexham showed that he has learned from a key criticism regarding his maturity and mentality, and he will be tasked with helping Phil Parkinson and the Red Dragons to a top-six finish next term.
With the 2025/26 Championship campaign fast approaching, Windass has shared a final parting message with the Sheffield Wednesday fans, captured after the final home game of last season in a documentary detailing Windass’ final season at the Owls.
Windass told the Sheffield Wednesday fans on his YouTube channel: “Just thank you. You’ve been great with me for the past five years.
“I’ve really enjoyed playing here, it’s an amazing stadium with amazing fans, and I’ve loved every minute of it.”
After Wrexham made history with successive promotions, Windass will be hoping to continue on that trajectory next season and keep up a personal record that he has only achieved five times in his 12-year career so far.

Josh Windass will hope to continue his double-digit goal return at Wrexham
Last season, ‘number ten’ Windass enjoyed his most productive campaign in front of goal since his outstanding campaign in the Owls’ 2022/23 League One campaign, in which he scored a 123rd-minute goal in the play-off final against Barnsley.
The Englishman has a double-digit goal return in five of his 14 seasons as a professional, across his time at Accrington Stanley, Rangers, Wigan Athletic, and the Owls.
| Statistic | 2025/16 at Accrington Stanley | 2017/18 at Rangers | 2020/21 at Sheffield Wednesday | 2022/23 at Sheffield Wednesday | 2024/25 at Sheffield Wednesday |
| Games played | 35 | 41 | 44 | 42 | 47 |
| Goals | 17 | 18 | 10 | 16 | 13 |
| Assists | 7 | 6 | 5 | 7 | 6 |
Sheffield Wednesday fans will fear relegation with the litany of departures from S6, which is the polar opposite of the feeling at the Red Dragons heading into next season.
Windass’ attacking absence will be sorely felt at the Owls in the 2025/26 campaign, but his penchant for the spectacular could be the magic ticket Wrexham need to complete their unfathomable Premier League journey.
