West Brom are just one of the many clubs looking for a new manager this summer, and EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal the profile they are looking for.
With the likes of Norwich City, Cardiff, and now Hull City searching for new managers to guide them into the 2025/26 campaign, there’s plenty of competition for the top names on the market right now.
West Brom relieved Tony Mowbray of his duties almost a month ago now, before any of their rivals made the same call, and yet they are still without a permanent coach.
James Morrison had been in temporary charge until the end of the season, but the Baggies are expected to employ someone else in the near future.

West Brom still keen on Ryan Mason, he fits their profile
Now, in an EFL Analysis exclusive, we can reveal exactly what kind of manager West Brom are searching for and what that might suggest about their plans for the future, as well as an update on Ryan Mason’s standing in their manager hunt.
Speaking to our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, about the situation there, we’re told West Brom do really like Ryan Mason. However, he is not the only name they are looking at, with other options on the table.
Either way, it is thought Mason fits the bill perfectly for what the West Brom hierarchy are now looking for, which is a young and fresh manager to carry them forward.
Of course, we can never be too sure whether that approach will stick, especially if a high-profile, more experienced coach becomes available. But, at this moment in time, it seems West Brom are putting the call out for younger managers.
We know the Baggies have been waiting for Mason to finish his work with Tottenham this season, where he has the Europa League final to consider. After that, it will be interesting to see whether the young coach decides it’s time to carve out his own path elsewhere.

Who else has been linked with West Brom?
With West Brom wanting a young manager, it could make sense for James Morrison to stay on, but he’s already made it clear he’s not interested in taking the job full-time.
Marti Cifuentes was put on gardening leave by QPR after seemingly expressing his interest in the West Brom job, but the Baggies don’t actually want him now.
Meanwhile, Dave Challinor is an option for West Brom after his impressive stint with Stockport County. And, after missing out on promotion via the League One play-offs this season, there is a chance he looks for a new challenge.
The most recent name to emerge is Eric Ramsay. The former Manchester United and Chelsea coach is working in the MLS with Minnesota United, but would be a risky hire given his lack of experience.
