After leading 2-0 at half time and then going on to lose 3-2 at home to Sheffield Wednesday, it’s safe to say Norwich City fans are furious right now.
Norwich went into the game knowing that, after dropping points frequently, this was pretty much make-or-break for their slim play-off hopes.
Sheffield Wednesday, meanwhile, were in a similar boat, having got back to winning ways at the weekend, but still finding themselves eight points adrift of the top six going into Tuesday’s games.

Danny Rohl warned Norwich that his team were coming to Carrow Road for all three points, though, and the Owls duly delivered.
They did it the hard way, mind you. Norwich were two to the good at the break thanks to goals from Borja Sainz and Ante Crnac, but Wednesday staged a thrilling fightback to secure a 3-2 win and leapfrog the Canaries in the Championship table.

Norwich City fans have lost patience with Johannes Hoff Thorup
While Wednesday fans hailed their heroes, Norwich City fans were livid with their team and many of them directed their frustrations at the manager, Johannes Hoff Thorup, on Twitter/X.
One fan lambasted the whole mess, writing: “Embarrassing yet again. The Thorup experiment is failing before our very eyes, every week it’s the same mistakes and tactical flaws and every week it’s the same promises that we’ll learn from it, but we never ever do.”
Another added: “Predictable. There is something fundamentally wrong with our football club. Got to start asking questions of the tactics and coaching staff now surely?”
Things are getting pretty tense, it seems, and Thorup could genuinely be in trouble if the fans have anything to do with it.
One Norwich fan posted: “Serious questions needs to be asked. How on earth do we always seem to go from winning to dropping points? I’m not one to hate on Johannes Hoff Thorup, but he’s really not making it fun for the fans.”
In a particularly scathing review of the night, and indeed the bigger picture, one fan wrote: “Inexcusable that from Norwich. A complete and total collapse. You could see it coming like an iceberg five minutes into the second half – nobody did anything to avert it. Soft goals. Weak. Season all but over. 29 points dropped from winning positions. Bad.”
Some are even pining for the past, with one supporter suggesting, “[David] Wagner was better than this by absolute miles.”
However, it’s not just the manager getting stick, with some turning their attention to the players that have let them down on the night.
“Gone from awful to disgraceful. Can’t keep blaming the manager – the players have to take some responsibility,” one supporter said.

Perspective is needed – Johannes Hoff Thorup is laying good foundations at Norwich
Yes, this defeat is a bad one. Not getting the points is bad enough, given the fact it almost certainly kills off those play-off hopes for Norwich. But, it’s the manner of the loss that is most damaging here.
To be in control at half-time and throw away the lead yet again, is almost inexcusable, especially at home. The fans have every right to be angry, but calling for Thorup’s head feels rash and premature.

First of all, it’s important to remember Norwich have been battered by injuries this season, leaving Thorup able to name the same starting XI only six times throughout the 2024/25 campaign. That kind of inconsistency would always be harmful to what the manager is trying to build.
On their day, though, Norwich are playing excellent football, they’ve got a strong home record, and they’re the second-highest scorers in the whole of the Championship (behind only Leeds United).
With another summer to shape his squad — and hopefully not lose key players like Josh Sargent — Thorup and Norwich can go into next season as one of the fancied sides to go up, but they just have to keep faith with the manager now and not let this frustration cloud judgement.
