Wrexham secured their second league win of the season on Saturday afternoon, as they beat an inconsistent Norwich City side 3-2 at Carrow Road.
It was the home side who took the lead in Norfolk, as Jack Stacey ventured forward to slide the ball past Arthur Okonkwo in the 39th minute. However, the Red Dragons hit back straight after the break, as Josh Windass equalised.
Windass had suffered a hamstring injury in August, and this was his first appearance for over a month. It was clear to see the rest had helped him, however, as he grabbed his second goal of the game not long after Ryan Longman had put the visitors in front.
While Jovon Makama did halve the deficit for Norwich in the dying moments, it was an excellent victory for Wrexham, with Phil Parkinson’s side keeping one key Canaries player quiet.
Phil Parkinson names Josh Sargent as Championship’s best striker
It’s been a tough start for Liam Manning at Carrow Road, and Chris Sutton has told the Canaries where to improve if they are to reach the play-offs come the end of the season.

Ensuring that Josh Sargent is firing is crucial to Norwich’s success, yet Wrexham stifled him on Saturday, and Parkinson spoke out on the situation following the win. He said (via: The Athletic): “We were up against probably the best striker in the league today in Josh Sargent.
“We did a lot of work on him, how we felt we had to deal with him. He’s a dangerous player but our concentration levels were good.
“There was a lot of fatigue out there eventually, as they tracked his runs, they got tight to him and limited a really good player to very little.”
Josh Sargent’s bright Norwich City start has fizzled out
Six games into the season, Sargent is level with Coventry City’s Haji Wright as the Championship’s top scorer, but he has now failed to score in his last two league games.
Sargent came close to joining Wolfsburg in the summer transfer window, but a fee could never be agreed between Norwich and the Bundesliga side. However, Wrexham were able to show that England’s second tier can be just as competitive as Germany’s top flight.

While it has not been the easiest of returns for the 25-year-old since the international break, Sargent is still outperforming his xG rate (3.38), and seven of his 19 shots have hit the target – with five of those finding the back of the net.
One of several USA World Cup hopefuls in the Championship this season, the 25-year-old will be looking to hit back next weekend as Norwich make the trip to the fast-starting Stoke City.
