Peterborough United clashed with Birmingham City in the EFL Trophy final on Sunday, and fans have had a lot to say about Harley Mills.
Birmingham City have had a monumental week, securing promotion to the Championship and being named League One winners on Saturday following Wrexham’s draw with Wigan Athletic.
Birmingham can break a League One record this season, but all eyes were on the EFL Trophy final this weekend.
The Blues were looking to secure their first piece of silverware in over a decade, while Peterborough United were eyeing history on April 13.
Peterborough won the competition in 2023/24 and were aiming to become the first side ever to lift the trophy in consecutive seasons.
But standing in their way was one of the most dominant sides in League One history.

Fans tip Harley Mills for Peterborough United exit after Birmingham City clash
Tom Brady sent a message to Birmingham ahead of Peterborough, with the multi-time Super Bowl winner aiming to inspire his players.
But despite Brady’s team being favourites for the clash, it was the Posh who opened the scoring when Harley Mills bent in a sensational free-kick.
The left-back was involved again at the stroke of half time when he whipped in a cross that Ricky-Jade Jones flicked onto Hector Kyprianou who made it 2-0.
Mills is just 19 years of age and after a sensational first 45 versus Birmingham, a number of rival fans have taken to social media to suggest the defender will leave Peterborough or needs to be looked at by their clubs.
One fan wrote: “Sorry lads but Mills won’t be playing for you next season, what a player.”
A second added: “I know I’ve only seen 45 minutes of them, but how on earth are Peterborough doing so badly this season? Kyprianu, Mills, Jones, Poku are easily Championship players.”
“Get that Harley Mills in the summer,” another rival supporter demanded.
A fourth wrote: “Harley Mills, 19, with the whipped cross for that goal, after putting one in the top bin as if he’s Cristiano Rice. Plays LB btw… #pusb. That will do.
And a fifth added: “Birmingham 0-2 Peterborough. Mills with the ball, Kyprianou with the goal. We should honestly look into that Mills. His contract runs out this summer…”
Have Peterborough United offered Harley Mills a new contract
Still only a teenager, Mills arrived at Peterborough in 2021, signing from Aston Villa’s youth system.
He helped the Posh win the David Joyce Cup and U18 Professional Development League Cup in 2023, signing a two-year professional development contract in July of that year.
As a result, he is due to leave Peterborough this summer as a free agent, which rival fans would no doubt love.
However, chairman Darragh MacAnthony revealed recently, as per the Peterborough Telegraph, that Mills has been offered a new contract.
He said: “We have offered Harley Mills a news deal on the same terms James Dornelly accepted.
“We will offer Archie Collins and Malik Mothersille new deals, but if, say, Archie doesn’t want to sign I won’t spend a year sweating about it.”
