Rob Edwards has picked out three Middlesbrough players that the club are expecting to shine in the future.
Boro have had a mixed start to the 2025/26 season, which began with a 1-0 win over Swansea City in the Championship.
However, Middlesbrough were then hammered 4-0 by Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
Morgan Whittaker drew the ire of fans for his showing in the League Cup clash, and Rob Edwards has explained how transfers will be impacted by the defeat.
While it was a dire night of football for fans, however, Edwards has picked up some positives.

Middlesbrough expect three players to impress
Middlesbrough made some changes to their squad for the meeting with Doncaster.
There were a number of young players included in the cup tie, three of whom have caught Edwards’ eye.
While the Boro boss admitted it wasn’t a good performance, he did pick up Law McCabe, George McCormick and summer signing Abdoulaye Kante as players the Teesside outfit have ‘high hopes’ for.
Edwards said, as per the Northern Echo: “It’s hard to ask a lot of young George, and Law and Alpha were playing in there together for the first time and they’re young players.
“I thought they showed glimpses and some good moments of real quality but it was a tough night in the end.
“They’ll learn a lot from it. These are good young players who we have high hopes for.
“The young ones are a little bit exempt from it in a way, they have to learn from it quick.”
Dael Fry verdict on Abdoulaye Kante
Prior to the Doncaster clash, Kante was handed his Boro debut off the bench against Swansea.
He played 19 minutes of the victory and captain Dael Fry has shared his verdict on the 20-year-old.
Fry stated: “He’s hilarious, he’s so funny.
“When he first came in, I said ‘alright mate, my name is Dael’ and he said ‘thank you’. I thought maybe I should have toned the Boro down in me a bit there!
“But he’s been fantastic. I’m sure the lads will warm to him. He’s going to be a good character for us going forward.”
