Ruben Selles was one of the unfortunate managers to lose his job in the Championship, and now, he could be fast-tracked back into a fresh role.
In December, Selles was hired by Hull City to keep them in the Championship following Tim Walter’s disastrous tenure.
Although it wasn’t pretty, the Spaniard kept the Tigers up on goal difference with a final-day draw at Portsmouth as West Brom secured a 5-3 win over Luton Town in the other decisive fixture.
To many, the 41-year-old had done enough to keep his job at the MKM Stadium, but unfortunately, owner Acun Ilicali didn’t feel that way.
Ilicali sacked Selles as manager last week following just six months in charge, and now, the former Reading boss could have a quick return to management.

Huddersfield Town have held ‘talks’ with Ruben Selles
Ilicali issued a bizarre reason behind sacking Selles, expecting the young Spanish coach to lift the Tigers away from the relegation zone and challenge towards the top half.
That was never a realistic ambition for someone who joined when Hull were rooted to the foot of the table, leaving supporters saddened by his departure.
Now, according to Alan Nixon via his Patreon, League One side Huddersfield Town have held ‘talks’ with Selles about becoming their new boss.
Selles is seen as an ‘attractive option’ to the Terriers following the excellent job he did at Reading and the lack of compensation they’d have to pay.
Huddersfield endured a frustrating campaign in the third tier after being relegated from the Championship. The Yorkshire outfit were early contenders for promotion and looked nailed on to finish in the top six.
But 11 defeats from their final 15 games, with the dismissal of Michael Duff sandwiched between, saw them finish in a disappointing 10th position under temporary boss Jon Worthington after recording a whopping 20 losses on the board.
Selles would be a fine appointment for Huddersfield
Under tight financial constraints, Huddersfield need to hire someone who can work wonders with a small budget and has a deep understanding of the league.
Selles ticks both of those boxes. He had no money to spend during his time at Reading, relying on signing free transfer players while utilising the youth.

The Spaniard had the Royals fighting for a play-off spot before leaving for Hull in December, demonstrating what a fine job he did.
Selles can perform similar miracles with Huddersfield in League One if allowed to assemble a squad and invest in the youth system.
Compared to some of the other candidates, the former Hull boss would be a low-risk and cost-efficient appointment, should the job in West Yorkshire appeal to him.
