The Sheffield Wednesday saga under Dejphon Chansiri continues with the Championship campaign approaching.
Sheffield Wednesday have been the talk of the Championship this summer for all the wrong reasons under the ownership of Dejphon Chansiri.
Amid the Owls’ financial crisis, a summer exodus has occurred at Hillsborough Stadium, with several high-profile players and staff members departing the sinking ship.
The situation has hit boiling point, with the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust planning to protest during this weekend’s season opener at Leicester City.
Now, despite the bitter rivalry in the steel city between Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, Blades boss Ruben Selles has broken his silence on the Owls’ plight.

Ruben Selles shares classy message to Sheffield Wednesday amid crisis
Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday are heading into the 2025/26 Championship campaign on polar opposite ends of the spectrum.
After ending last season with a 2-1 defeat to Sunderland in the play-off final in Chris Wilder’s final game in charge, Sheffield United are predicted as title winners by the OPTA supercomputer projections, with the pressure on Selles to do so.
Sheffield Wednesday’s OPTA prediction was a shock, placing the Owls for a mid-table finish in 14th, but given the turmoil at the club most fans will be desperate to avoid relegation.
With the opening weekend now only days away, Blades boss Selles has commented on the Owls saga.
Selles said on talkSport: “When it comes to people suffering and people losing their jobs and not getting paid on time and the uncertainty of the situation, nobody wants that situation for their neighbour.
“Even though it’s a rivalry in the city. It’s always a difficult situation and it’s difficult to understand.
“They have my sympathy. I don’t think it’s good for football, or anybody.”

Despite Barry Bannan signing a new Sheffield Wednesday deal, the Owls are still suffering severe hardship under Chansiri, leaving Henrik Pedersen with a mountain to climb after replacing Danny Rohl.
United’s head-to-head record against Wednesday stands at 51 wins, 47 draws, and 48 losses from 146 games ahead of the upcoming second tier season, with the Blades winning both clashes last season 1-0.
