Sheffield United midfielder Oli Arblaster may have given a hint on when he could return from injury for the Blades.
Following the final day of the 2024/25 Championship regular season, Sheffield United will now face Bristol City in the play-off semi-finals.
A trip to Ashton Gate awaits Chris Wilder’s side before Sheffield United then host Bristol City at Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United’s play-off fight will see them go in as favourites due to the quality in their side, which includes Championship Player of the Season Gustavo Hamer. The Blades’ midfield has been Wilder’s side’s key strength this season, and that is in spite of Oli Arblaster’s injury he picked up in the Steel City derby.
Arblaster has missed a large majority of the 2024/25 season because of injury, but the midfielder’s most recent update on social media could mean that a return for him is near.

Sheffield United gem Oli Arblaster posts injury update on social media as he nears return
Arblaster was in fine form prior to his injury, something that made his extended period of time out of the team that much more devastating, not just for himself, but for Sheffield United. Chris Wilder’s side ticked perfectly with Arblaster in the centre of the park.
Thankfully, after missing a total of 31 games for Sheffield United because of his cruciate ligament injury, the 21-year-old is now closer to making a return to the side after his recent update.
On Instagram, Arblaster posted an Instagram story of himself back out on the grass at training, with the caption ‘getting closer to the finish line’.
The Sheffield United man also had a ball at his feet, yet another positive sign in his recovery from an outside perspective.

Oli Arblaster return will be crucial to Blades success
It is not yet confirmed whether Arblaster is in contention to play in the play-offs for Sheffield United; he will certainly be a huge miss if unavailable.
Nonetheless, the longer that Sheffield United fans are left waiting for Arblaster to return to the side, the more the anticipation builds.
The young Sheffield United midfielder showed prior to his injury that, even at his age, he is a crucial member of Wilder’s side, and the season could have panned out slightly differently if he were fit for the entire campaign.
If Arblaster does have to wait until the new term to notch game time, whether it’s in the Premier League or Championship, it is safe to assume that the team will be built around Arblaster after the glimmers of brilliance he has already shown.
