Sheffield Wednesday fans are all sending the same message to boyhood fan Jamie Vardy following his Leicester City exit.
Jamie Vardy will leave Leicester City at the end of the 2024/25 season ahead of the Foxes’ relegation to the Championship.
From the perspective of Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s side, Leicester City will find it difficult to replace Vardy, the striker who, at times, has helped the club strive far beyond their expected potential, picking up both a Premier League title, FA Cup, and helping his side enjoy two terms playing European football.
Vardy’s exit from the King Power Stadium has sparked a flurry of fans wanting their side to bring in the experienced talisman, who looks set to continue his playing career. One set of supporters who have shown an interest in the striker is Sheffield Wednesday fans, who want the Owls fan to ‘come home’.

Sheffield Wednesday fans plead for Jamie Vardy to ‘come home’ after Leicester City exit
Sheffield Wednesday supporters were quickly alarmed to learn about boy-hood Owls fan Vardy leaving Leicester City after a total of 12 years at the club.
Vardy also found himself in the Owls academy up until his release, which led to him pursuing a career in non-league with local side Stocksbridge Park Steels.
It didn’t work out the first time at the club for Vardy, but Sheffield Wednesday fans certainly want the former England international to return to S6, as one fan on X pleaded for Dejphon Chansiri to ‘please make Jamie Vardy the 1st signing for next season.’
Another pleaded for Vardy to ‘come home’ to ‘where it all began (and should have remained)’. One supporter suggested that ‘a return to his roots with Sheffield Wednesday’ could potentially be on the cards.

Owls fans are correct in one thing as they plead for pursuit of Jamie Vardy
One thing that is certain for Sheffield Wednesdfay is that they need to bring a striker in ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season, whether that be an ambitious plot to sign Vardy, or another reliable second-tier attacker.
Unfortunately, it simply hasn’t worked out for Ike Ugbo this season, whilst Jamal Lowe has shown very little promise infront of goal as well.
Vardy would certainly solve the difficulties that Sheffield Wednesday have endured this season in front of goal. Astonishingly, the Owls have endured a widely positive season since the majority of the 2023/24 campaign, and a confident striker up front could be one of the remaining pieces in the puzzle for Sheffield Wednesday to push on from mid-table.
