Sheffield Wednesday have announced the departure of Danny Rohl.
EFL Analysis revealed earlier in July that a decision had been made on the ex-Owls manager’s future, and now with just 12 days to go until their Championship campaign kicks off, the German has left the club.
Chris Powell has also moved on, with Henrik Pedersen taking charge of the South Yorkshire outfit for the 2025/26 season.
It’s been a disastrous summer for Sheffield Wednesday, with a takeover bid collapsing already this month, and now supporters have slammed the club following the mutual decision for Rohl to leave.
Sheffield Wednesday fans react to Danny Rohl’s departure
Rohl worked wonders for the Owls last season, keeping them in the Championship with ease. They finished in mid-table after completing the great escape the previous year, but now he will no longer oversee the team at Hillsborough.

Supporters have taken to social media to issue their thoughts on the decision, and there is one target of the blame.
While a Birmingham City fan wrote: “Sorry but I don’t understand this at all from outside looking in? I thought Chansiri was holding out for compensation packages? Now he’s paid him off, or they have both agreed to lose money? They are going to miss him big time, he was the only thing holding it together.”
One Sheffield Wednesday supporter said: “A lot of people pointing fingers at Rohl, but would you want to stay in a job where you didn’t know if you were getting paid month to month? Or where you were expected to work miracles with next to no resources? He goes with my best wishes.”
“An incredible opportunity that fell into our laps and we threw it away. Shambolic,” another put.
While one Owl has already resigned the club to relegation: “League One it is boys.”
The Owls now enter a period of even more uncertainty
If this summer hasn’t been as difficult as it could have been already for Sheffield Wednesday, they have now found a way to exacerbate their problems.
With no new signings made, and young trialists filling the squad for the Owls, questions have to be asked about if they can compete in the Championship at all next season.

Supporters have noticed one kit detail that they do not like, and there is yet to be a positive update from the club since the 2024/25 campaign came to an end.
Pedersen has so much work on his hands to get this team prepared for the second tier, with a friendly against a Burnley XI his first task this weekend.
