Sheffield Wednesday fans are all saying the same thing following ‘retro’ kit release, they’ve ‘messed’ it up

Following the release of Sheffield Wednesday’s highly-anticipated retro kit, Owls supporters have noticed two things that have made it a massive ‘missed opportunity’.

Just less than 11 months after it was announced, Sheffield Wednesday have finally released their 2025/26 third kit that includes the ‘iconic owl’ badge.

There was plenty of expectation on Macron to deliver on this occasion after Sheffield Wednesday’s home kit was criticised, particularly because of the word art running down the stripes.

The Owls’ away strip also received criticism from Sheffield Wednesday supporters, not just for the left-field design, but also the price that Owls fans were being charged.

Sheffield Wednesday have now released their third kit, which appears to be a metallic white base with blue pin stripes, and of course, with the retro owl in the left of the chest. Unfortunately, fans have already spotted two major flaws with the new retrowear.

What Sheffield Wednesday fans have noticed about the retro kit release

Following the release of the new Sheffield Wednesday kit, supporters have taken to X, with two aspects of the new shirt putting fans off, in particular.

One fan said that they are ‘not happy with the line through the badge’, backed up by another supporter who suggested that it is ruined by ‘the stripe through the iconic owl’.

Another said: “Proper badge with a line through it! I mean, can they not get out right!?!?”

Sheffield Wednesday supporters continued, having said that the ‘word art text ruins another kit’, stating that ‘they’ve messed that one up too’ after the previous two kits were not received positively.

Sheffield Wednesday will don their new colours in the away trip to Leicester City, which is set to show Owls supporters take action against Dejphon Chansiri.

Why Owls fans may not be rushing to buy new kit

Football fans often count down the days until a kit release, which is part and parcel of the anticipation ahead of a new season, but that has not been the case with Sheffield Wednesday supporters this summer.

The entire club has been turned on its head amid several layers of mismanagement, with Dejphon Chansiri ultimately being blamed for the current crisis.

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust has made its feelings towards Chansiri clear, and this has included a plea for all fans to boycott all club merchandise. As a result, there are unlikely to be many fans donning the new retro kit in S6 this season, except for those who pre-ordered it 11 months ago.
