Sheffield Wednesday fans are in complete agreement as claim made on ‘messy’ Danny Rohl situation

The future of Danny Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday has been a major talking point in the last few weeks.

It appears as though Sheffield Wednesday will be parting ways with manager Danny Rohl this summer.

The German took the Owls to a mid-table finish in 2024/25 after helping them avoid relegation in the previous campaign.

Rohl has spoken about his Sheffield Wednesday future recently and dropped a not-so-subtle hint that he wishes to leave.

He said: “I always want to work with the best players and compete with the best coaches. The Bundesliga is, of course, a top choice. After all, I grew up with the Bundesliga. But the Premier League is also a dream. I’m currently very excited to see what happens this summer.”

Now, one journalist has summed up the situation, and fans are in complete agreement.

Sheffield Wednesday fans in agreement about Danny Rohl claim

Taking to social media, Dom Howson has pointed toward the poor running of Sheffield Wednesday as the reason the club currently find themselves in this ‘messy’ Rohl situation.

Supporters have since taken to the comments section to express their agreement with Howson’s stance.

One fan wrote: “Completely agree Don, but it needs sorting and quick… it’s clear the oppressive way the owner works and the interest shown in him has turned his head, think many would do the same. I’d negotiate his exit and appoint Henrik Pederson, I’m sure he’d relish taking over.”

A second replied: “Absolutely agree with both parts of this post Dom…Röhl is sat looking for someone to come in. Which of course will be awkward if they don’t. However, we can’t do what we always do & end up starting our pre season dealings ‘from the pit lane’ as it were. Fast resolution required.”

“Exactly right Dom. I Think we could have achieved more (IF) Chansiri backed him in January, when it was clear we needed a stronger defence and maybe a proven battle in Midfield. But because that didn’t happen Danny drifted away from the club, but was he promised a cash input????” Another fan questioned.

A fourth Wednesday fan tweeted: “Finally, some honesty from a sports journalist about the situation at Wednesday.”

Another expressed concern: “I agree with you, Dom. The concern for me is that if this rumbles on into the summer, we won’t get a new manager in early, won’t make signings or negotiate contracts, have less pre-season prep time and it will be like when Xisco came. Again, it’s the fans that will suffer.”

What club could Danny Rohl join after leaving Sheffield Wednesday

As seemingly made clear in his aforementioned comments, Rohl could be open to a Premier League move.

Championship-bound Leicester liked the Sheffield Wednesday boss previously, but there is interest from the top flight as well.

It emerged last week that Crystal Palace and Fulham are eyeing Rohl, while a move back to the Bundesliga could be an option as well.

We have previously revealed that the Wednesday manager’s release clause is near the £5m mark.
