Sheffield Wednesday star breaks silence on club crisis and the likelihood of strike action

After Di’Shon Bernard’s message to Danny Rohl, one Sheffield Wednesday star has spoken directly about the situation unfolding at the club.

Sheffield Wednesday kick off the Championship in just over a week; however, all of the pre-season discussion surrounding the Owls has not once touched on their upcoming campaign.

Financial concerns have plagued the club for some time now, but this summer has seen it all spill into a huge mess overseen by Dejphon Chansiri.

The North Stand has been condemned by the Sheffield City Council, leaving many season ticket holders in jeopardy over where they will be seated this season.

On the pitch, issues are also paramount as the first-team squad continues to deplete day by day.

As the messy situation unravels, one Sheffield Wednesday star has gone to face the music in a Sky Sports interview.

Jamal Lowe gives Sky Sports interview on Sheffield Wednesday situation

Sheffield Wednesday attacker Jamal Lowe has given an interview to Sky Sports News, where he ‘expressed sympathy’ for the staff who have suffered from uncertainty regarding their pay and future.

However, he also played down any potential of a strike on the opening day against Leicester City, suggesting that ‘the players haven’t spoken yet’ about such action taking place. He also said that updates from the club are often found out via social media.

The candid interview from Lowe ended with the Owls striker saying: “If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.”

Sheffield Wednesday players have understandably been quiet on the situation at S6, however, Di’Shon Bernard also showed support for Danny Rohl when he left Sheffield Wednesday, having said that the German boss deserves better.

When difficulties have arisen that source from the head of a club, the last person who should be left to comment on such events is a player. Jamal Lowe, like the rest of the first team squad, will have been left in the dark regarding the situation at the club, whilst Dejphon Chansiri remains radio silent.

The Sheffield Wednesday owner has not taken responsibility for the actions that have got the club into a messy state, something that has often been the case throughout his tenure at Hillsborough.

It should not be on Lowe, who potentially hasn’t been paid for this month, to address such difficult questions. The supporters want answers, and only one man should be on the receiving end of it.
