Sheffield Wednesday have had to bid farewell to several players this summer amid their current financial situation.
It’s safe to say Sheffield Wednesday are a club in chaos right now. Wages are going unpaid, the Owls can’t sign anyone, and it looks like Danny Rohl will be let go before the season starts.
The club have terminated the contracts of Josh Windass and Michael Smith, while being forced to sell Anthony Musaba and Djeidi Gassama, well below market value, we should add, in the past couple of weeks.
Fans of the club will be feeling the hurt as they watch on, and this feeling doesn’t look like it will be stopping anytime soon as the Owls continue to sell off their assets.

The latest departure, though, wanted to thank fans for the time he spent at the club before he opted to leave Sheffield for a ‘new chapter’.

Caelan Cadamarteri posts a heartfelt message to the Sheffield Wednesday fans
Sheffield Wednesday have had to bid farewell to those they would view as assets, and this includes a number of players they would view as future stars.
One of those is Caelan Cadamarteri, as he has joined Manchester City. While the deal was known to be happening for a period of time, it doesn’t mean it hurts any less for fans seeing future stars leave the club.
However, Cadamarteri took to social media to post a thank you to the club and the fans as he departs for Manchester.
He said: “After an unforgettable journey at this amazing club, with amazing sets of players who have come and gone throughout the years, it’s my time to start a new chapter.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the players and the staff for the experience and memories over the past 8 years that will last a lifetime, and ultimately helping me to become the player I am today.
“I wish everyone at the club all the best for the future.”
Why Cadamarteri moved to Manchester City
The striker is a player with huge potential after he has been playing underage football with England and has impressed at Hillsborough as he came up through the youth ranks.
The teenager scored an impressive 24 goals in 23 appearances for Wednesday’s under-18s last term, despite playing a few years up.
Cadamarteri also notched 10 assists and scored 19 goals in eight games in the Floodlit Cup, evincing his incredible talent at the youth level.
It is easy to see why Man City would have been interested in the striker, while Cadamarteri himself just needs to look at the youth setup at the Sky Blues and see the players that have come through their ranks to realise how great an opportunity this is for him.
