Ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s protest against Dejphon Chansiri this weekend, one member of the Supporters’ Trust has discussed ‘managing expectations’ on any future action taken.

Sheffield Wednesday fans are set to make their voices heard in the upcoming clash against Stoke City this weekend.

Their Championship opener against Leicester City saw the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust conduct a protest against Dejphon Chansiri in front of the Sky Sports cameras, which was received very well by fans.

Things are expected to ramp up as Sheffield Wednesday supporters continue to put pressure on Chansiri after a disastrous summer for the club.

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust has gained plenty of support for their actions taken against Chansiri, and whilst it is expected to hit a new level this weekend, they have eased the expectations of fans regarding future protests.

Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust gives update on future protest action

It is expected that Sheffield Wednesday fans’ protest this weekend will hopefully put further pressure on Dejphon Chansiri to sell the club after it had become clear that he had lost the support of the fanbase.

A coffin is set to be carried through Hillsborough Park, where fans will direct their displeasure towards the Thai owner. Unrest is also expected in the stands at Hillsborough Stadium, with supporters coming equipped to the game with whistles to blow in the first five minutes.

Whilst it is set to be a massive statement from the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust which will hopefully gain the traction of the national media, they have issued an update on any future protests.

Speaking on the Wednesday ‘Til I Die podcast, Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust member Jake Lee said: “We can’t run massive protests every week. We might have to target Sky games moving forward. So, it’s just about managing expectations as well here.

“And it’s really important that fans remember that everybody can organise a protest. Every supporter’s group can, every fan can, everybody can help. The trust will do it, and we’ll work night and day to do it.

“But we need help and we need support, and what we got at Leicester was absolutely unbelievable. This is one of the best fan bases in the country; everybody knows that, particularly away from home.

“We need to show that we’re really good in channeling energy into getting a new owner as well as supporting the team.”

Owls fans can take individual action against Dejphon Chansiri

Whilst, as the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust says, protests cannot be expected every week against Dejphon Chansiri, fans can still play their part in taking action against the Thai owner on a daily basis.

Sheffield Wednesday’s 2025/26 kits are not quite flying off the shelves this summer, which is a sign that Owls fans are making their voice heard by hindering Chansiri financially. If fans continue to do this, then it will have a significant impact on the current ownership, just as the protests are set to cause.

The Sheffield Wednesday fan base has never been so united against Chansiri, and there will be hope that the extra media coverage on the situation in S6 will potentially push him towards a sale of the club.
