What Sheffield Wednesday fans have planned for Sky Sports clash vs Leicester City amid Chansiri unrest

Sheffield Wednesday supporters are set to conduct a protest in their opening Championship game against Leicester City, with plenty of actions set to be taken in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Sheffield Wednesday face a trip to Leicester City this afternoon, where Owls supporters will get a first look at a team that has been disbanded across the summer.

The club has been dragged through the gutter in recent months, with staff being paid late, whilst several first-team players have departed from S6.

Supporters who have purchased North Stand season tickets have also been left in the dark after it was shut down due to safety concerns.

There has been an accumulation of issues that have resulted in unrest directed towards owner Dejphon Chansiri, with fans set to make their voices heard in the clash against Leicester City.

What Sheffield Wednesday fans have planned as they protest against Dejphon Chansiri

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust has planned a fan protest to take place in the Owls’ opening clash against the Foxes, and it is one that they hope will grab the attention of many on the Sky cameras.

With the emphasis of the game being on Sky, the Supporters’ Trust has repeatedly stressed their desire for as many fans as possible to remain outside the stadium or in the concourse for the opening five minutes of the game before going to find their seats in an orderly fashion.

Because of Sheffield Wednesday’s ‘incredible support’ often shown in away games, the Trust has stated that an empty away end would be a clear sign to Dejphon Chansiri that Wednesdayites have ‘had enough’.

There will also be a ‘visual large-scale display’ in the away end, which is expected to make a ‘huge statement’ regarding the current state of the club.

On top of the visual aspects of the protest, supporters have also been encouraged to voice ‘displeasure’ towards Chansiri and the current ownership.

Owls’ protest could significantly hamper Dejphon Chansiri

Sheffield Wednesday fans are aware that any increased pressure on Dejphon Chansiri can only have a positive impact on hopefully bringing an end to the Thai owner’s tenure.

This summer has shown that Chansiri is not in a position to successfully run the club, with staff notably being left in the dark regarding their pay.

Former Sheffield Wednesday coach Chris Powell has criticised Chansiri, indicating that discontent is widespread inside Hillsborough, as well as among the supporters.

Following what will hopefully be a colourful demonstration at the King Power Stadium, Sheffield Wednesday fans are expected to ramp it up a further notch as they host Stoke City at Hillsborough Stadium in their first home game of the season.
