Steve Howard scored the goal that secured Leicester promotion
Steve Howard is a proper Football League journeyman who is best known for his spells at Derby County and Leicester.
Howard joined Leicester on 1 January 2008 – the season the club were relegated to League One for the first time in their history.
Nevertheless, the number nine stuck around at the then-named Walkers Stadium and formed a lethal partnership with Matty Fryatt.
Although Fryatt was the main talisman that year, Howard popped up with 13 goals in the league, including a last-minute header against Leeds United to take the Foxes back to the Championship.
He was named the supporters’ player of the season that year and remained with Leicester for another three years before loan spells elsewhere.
Steve Howard helped keep Sheffield Wednesday up
Wednesday fans may not remember Howard as fondly as Leicester supporters do – purely because of the timing of his arrival.
The experienced striker was one of three emergency loan signings the Owls made in March 2013 to keep their Championship hopes alive.

Unconvinced after he joined from Hartlepool United, who were bottom of League One, the 36-year-old only played eight times but scored on the final day of the season in a 2-0 win against Middlesbrough.
That strike was enough to keep the side in the second tier and would be his final act in football before hanging up the boots for good.
